Hello!
I'm looking for actual measured dimensions of the upper hanguard on the Enfield Enforcer and preceding models like the Enfield L39A1 or L-42
I have a very accurate sportered No.4Mk1 that had his bayonet extension bobbed. Putting full-length wood on it looks... oh well, you know :(
I have everything to give it a correct look except for the scope mount (I'll try to find a repro one and fit it).
Any pics with an inch ruler alongside will help.
Also, was the barrel band larger than the usual middle barrel band on regular No.4s?

The L42 and Enforcer lower forened is cut .500" in front of the midband. The handguard is 11.625" long ...measured from the back face of the ring to the tip. Expensive item to purchase. The Enforcer guard has a flat spot cut for scope clearance whereas L42 does not. I have seen No4 rear guards lengthened and used in this application. You need a high degree of woodworking skill to do this. Good luck with your project. Ron

The barrel of an Enforcer is longer than a No.4, so if you are trying to replicate the Enforcer's appearance with a No.4's original barrel, getting the forestock the correct length for an Enforcer will make the proportions wrong.

Yup! that's what I deducted from enlarging actual pictures.
I'll stick to more "normal" dimensions" and make a lookalike. It never will be an Enforcer or L-42 anyway.
Might as well give it a good appearance while preserving the free-floating barrel I already have. It shoots really tight groups.
Was the barrel band the same or was it a special longer one? I can have the band lengthened by TIG welding part of another one and refinishing it, if need be.
BTW, where can I find mounting pads and a replica "T" mount?
PP.

The mid band is the standard No4....no modifications. If your leaving the 303 barrel profile you nned to replace or lengthen the top guard to the dimension states. There's no reinforcement in the front of the top guard therefore lengthening can be done. Pads and bracket even if reproducing are going to set you back $350.00 - $450.00 and then they need to be installed....min $300.00 as you have to scrap in the scope mount to realize any accuracy. You could use the Parker Hale A20/21 bases like the Enforcer and High rings. Would allow you to use any 1" scope. Bases are worth $100.00. Front of the receiver need drilled and tapped while the rear mounts between the ears with the existing hardware. Ron

Great! I'll begin by cutting the channel for the band a little at a time to get everything nice and tight. Then I'll regulate and enlarge the channel just enough to ensure there's no contact with the upper wood.
Now, I'll need a front magazine swivel, too.

I did a quick search on "enforcer" in the Lee Enfield library forum and found some material, but I bet there's a lot more under otter search criteria. I'd also check with some of the folks who posted in those threads as I bet they have the information your seeking readily at hand.
