Enforcer or True Blue for 357 mag?

Anybody used any or both of these powders for a 357 mag?

Which was prefered and why?

Or any other powder recommendations.

Will be using 125gr Hornady XTP HP bullets, CCI magnum primers (Ruger GP100 4.2")
Looking for around 1400-1500 fps & clean powder(must be ball powder)

I wouldn't use 125 grain projectiles (or lighter) to load full power 357 magnum.

These projectiles are too short or too light and if loaded to maximum pressure and velocities, can cause flamecutting of the topstrap.

Better to use 158 grain heads.

I can't remember the scientific reason offhand...but you can look it up.

I noticed that loading 125 grainers over 14 grains Blue Dot created a huge and satisfying fireball when night shooting. I did notice the beginnings of flamecutting on my 686 so immediately stopped using the 125 grain load. Shot off most of my remaining 125 grain loads in my Marlin 1984 lever, where it will not do any damage.

Fireball was not as big with 158 grainers over a lighter 10.7 grain (IIRC) BD charge.

Anyways, I now load only 158 grain heads over 14 grains 2400 and so far no flamecut on my GP100.

Thanks for the info, was not aware of flame cutting.

158gr sounds like the best choice
