Engraved Winchester Model 94, 30-30 - Worth How Much?

Hello, I have an elderly friend who has a Winchester Model 94 AE in 30-30. Serial number is 5365###, placing it around 1985 I believe. The gun is still in the box and has never been fired. Only problem ....... it was a gift from an old employer, in 1986, and they had his name as well as the company name engraved on the right side, on either side of the spring cover / loading gate. Other than that, the rifle is brand new. I am trying to help him sell the rifle but have no idea what it is worth.

Any ideas?

Not many people want rifle with someone else's name on it unless it's some relation or some famous person....

Regardless of condition even as NIB with personalized engraving it has no value as a collector and not even desirable as a perfect condition possession. its only value is as a shooter (unfortunately).

There have been many ''shooter grade'' model 94's sold for closer to the 1k mark .
Post up some pics in the EE and clear the inbox.
Yellowstone has created the lever action resurgence in America and Canada as well.

In the days of $600 and up SKS's, any 94 that goes bang is worth 800 minimum.

Send me a message , I'll take it off your hands for $800
 
Some engraving is less offensive that others. It's safe to say that virtually any engraving will have degraded the rifle's value, but pics might help reveal how much.
 
Just wonder who the employer was.If it was some well known company/firm there could be those who collect items associated with those companies.Just a thought.
 
What is the company would be the bottom line for me.. I mean if it was Boots and Coots.. that would make it worth more money. The Trudeau Foundation.. not so much
 
Well, the company name was of a car dealership in the 80s, so nothing special.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies. The rifle is now sold.

Why is the first thing people say is it has no collector value.

Seems like a statement made intentionally to try and drive down the price.

Try and find a new in box 94 made in the last 60 years that sells for 500 or 600 like some have posted.
I offered up a fair value for a sight unseen gun.

Then I stood by my word.
Something many on this site should learn to do

It turns out this gun is a 1985 unfired Trapper in original box.

The engraving looks like it was done at a jewellery shop, not electro penciled.

I'm happy with it

Pre 64 sell for a lot more, I sold 4 last week 48, 54, 57, 62 for between 1300 and 1600.

Too nice too shoot and they were just collecting dust.

The 3 kids have had their pick of my guns to keep for themselves, anything I buy and sell these days is just to play with.

You are right, it is laughable at best, to value any Winchester 94 at $500-$600 in today's market.
Count yourself lucky if you find one below $1000.

Now all we need are pictures of the rifle in question.
