Please stop posting garbage that advocates the idea that any suffering you inflict on game is just fine because suffering exists in the world. It is an idiotic idea.
Please stop posting garbage that uses absurd analogies to justify ridiculous ideas about what the existence of suffering and pain in the world should mean to hunters.
All of your posts on this thread are perfect examples of indifference to cruelty and suffering that can easily be used by anti-hunters to prove hunting should be stopped. At this point I think YOUR hunting should be stopped. I don't want it to spill over into my hunting.
I also suspect you have done almost no hunting of any kind whatsoever.
Taking odd angle shots is not mandatory, that's the choice made by the hunter. Do you think hunters take odd angle shots on elephant? You use what you have to its best effectiveness. Not use what you have no matter the conditions.
You sir have a twisted sense of humor............I use a Cooey single shot with 22 shorts for all my hunting and predator control needs..........who can afford them pricey long rifle shells anyway.
Sorry I didn't see he wanted to shoot elephant with his 22 mag. Lol.
The op asked if it was ethical to do so. My answer was no. My assumption is that he does not plan to do this once but on an ongoing basis in which case my answer would still be no. Fact is it's not an appropriate caliber to do what he is asking, unless conditions are near perfect. So while it may be possible sometime, maybe even often, there are more "ethical" calibers to choose. Do you disagree?
As others have said i wouldn't push the 22 mag at coyotes at 200 yards. Its a great round for foxes out to 100yards and bigger dogs out to 50 yards probably. I have killed a wolf with 22 lr but it was a head shot on an animal in a trap. For guys trapping and looking to save pelts the 22 mag makes a good CLOSE range gun, I have even seen 22 mag on occasion do a lot of damage to fox fur, but in our province we aren't allowed to hunt with 17 cal rimfires. Sounds like a 223/204 or something of that nature would better suit your purpose.
Just an FYI, I trap and we can hunt with .17's in Ontario..... If you think a .22 mag can do fur damage you should see these things in action.... Let's just say it was was one of those "seemed like a good idea at the time" moments....... You aren't missing anything..... I have a blaze orange Savage Rascal in .22lr I use on my line.... It's awesome because I never misplace it when I put it down.... lol
Only stand I did today was stand in line at Costco.....![]()
I am sorry but I am entitle to my opinion and I do respect yours. I think I have way more life experience than you judging about your writing. Anyway, I was just discussion with you for the pleasure of the discussion and I am finish now. You will see, you will die too someday and you will not even feel pain. Happy New Year!
Well, you are entitled to your opinion, but having an opinion does not make it right. And if your opinion makes others suffer, it is likely an uninformed opinion. I hate analogies, but, since you have used them all along, try these.
Does the fact that there are thieves in the world make your stealing acceptable?
Does the fact that there is domestic abuse in the world make it acceptable for you to beat your wife?
Does the fact that there are pedophiles in the world make it acceptable for you to take pictures of ###ually abused kids and post them on the internet?
In the same way, the fact that there is suffering in the world does NOT make it acceptable for you to create suffering in anyone or anything - no matter what your opinion happens to be. It is wrong to do so.
It's my opinion that the 22 mag is an answer to a question no one asked. I wouldn't shoot anything bigger than what I would with a 22lr.
