Enter September - October scores: 25 yard offhand [NEW]

well, i shot two targets today. one was horible, but on my second one i shot 168. and i had one flyer.

my gun is a ruger 10/22 synthetic with a cheap tasco 3-9x scope. (i had it on 4x)

im going to give it another try either tomorow or next thursday/friday

Up until Hippie's post, I didn't realize that scopes or red-dots were allowed in the 25 yard offhand - all the other scores posted were with open sights, so I just assumed (incorrectly) that it was strictly for open sights. Hmmmm - I hope we get some decent weather before the end of the month so I can take a stab at this one with my red-dot equipped Browning Buckmark rifle, and my scoped Ruger 10/22 (long time squirrel gun).
We got a good 1" or more snow accumulation today - talk about whacky weather.

even if you dont get a chance before the end of the month, post your scores up any way. i dont like shooting off a bench, and i only have a one rimfire and it has a scope on it, so it would be interesting to see other peoples scores who use similar equipment. (not that irons are worse, infact the older guys at the range kick my arse with thier bolt actions and irons)
on thursday im going to try again. hopfaly ill do better.

Target #1-190 and 187
Used a Ruger 22/45Mk111 .22 with a Red Dot, Volquarsen sear, target trigger & muzzle brake. Ammo was Federal Gold Match 40 grain.

Target #2-183 and 180
Stock Browning Pro-Target .22 with open sights. Federal bulk pack .37g hollow points.

Two handed, unsupported indoor range. I did try a target with my .45ACP. but the bull was to small to get an accurate score. Most of it was missing.

Could we also try a standard rapid fire target for centre fire in the November match too.

Very nice scores!

One question for you though. Are you taking 20 shots at each bull? You said Target #1 was 190 and 187, does this mean the top bull scores 190 and the bottom scored 187 (for 20 shots)

Thansk and if so those scores are terrific!

Yes Jordan, 20 shots at each target. I was getting bored waiting for the bullseyes shooters to finish up there practicing. I promise to keep it to ten shots next match

These guys will take ten minutes to fire tens shots. So that's 40 minutes right there to shoot my four targets. Then it takes them another 5 to 10 minutes to change their targets. So since I had four mags already loaded and lots of time to kill, I shot 20 rounds at each target. Since I did it for the first target, I might as well do it for the second, third & forth targets. Those were my best 2 out of the four. I'll reshoot another four at ten rounds each on Wednesday.

Damn that ten ring is very small!

holy wack, thats some good shooting!
and thats with handguns at 25m?
id be lucking to even hit the black with one shot with my 22/45 at 25m.

every time i shot a target, id put either the first shot or the last shot in the 5 or 6 ring. pissed me off.
hehe, ya, the 10 ring is pretty small
starts getting hard to tell what is in 9 and what is in 10 after 10 shots (when i dont put them all in the 9 ring)

NO it was 25 yards, actually no that club is 21 yards

Bit of an advantage over some shooters. I've had a few years of proffesional pistol coaching and I'm now a NCCP level 2 Pistol coach. Being semi-retired at the moment, I get the chance to practice minimum two to three times each week. Plus we also shoot local Bullsye, PPC & IPSC matches. This is one sport where you really have to practice constantly or your performance will suffer. Hopefully my eyes sight will stay sharp as a I approach the 50yrs mark soon.

It's my one handed shooting that's a ##### for me. Try as I my, I just can't get my average much above 500 in a 600 bullseye match. Just don't have the same control with the one hand.

Some of my friends shoot 600,1200 & 1500 ppc matched. These guys are just amazing to watch. Check out some the nation records set at www.cpca-ppc.ca . You'll meet guys that can shoot perfect targets on a regular basis. It make make me sick.....stupid shooters!!!lol

Thats some Awsome shooting! As K98 mentioned, I would be lucky to get that score off a rest, or even in the prone position ;) :)

Thank you, now I hope I can repeat on Wednesday. Watch my scores suck next shoot.

Can't take all of the credit. My Ruger & Browning pistols are just tack drivers. They'll shoot one shot holes all day long, if I do my part. There are just as accurate as any $2,000 Pardini

hmm, maybe i need to up my equipment. im using a pretty much stock 10/22 (just has a trigger upgrade), cheap scope, and winchester "xpert 22" (cheap cheap cheap)

any way, im off to my ranger training. talk to you guys a a week.
