Entry .50 cal

I personally don't want to get into a screw on cap or partially disassembling the rifle to reload it, but I didn't want to spend $10K on a 50 BMG either, so this is what I came up with:

DA upper- $1800
ATRS lower $800
Magpul stock- $250?
Stock tube-$40
(prices approximate)

Originally I used a DA AR lower that I pulled off of one of my AR's, until the fall came and I wasn't using it much anymore so I sent it to ATRS.... Or- buying a separate AR lower is a less expensive route than the ATRS option, but it's restricted and also not as solid or streamlined. But if you have a spare AR lower or AR that you can steal the lower from, that's one way to put it together over time to spread out the cost if you want.

Now that your rig is NR, you oughta bring it out to my long range spot (when the snow clears and I can walk again, haha). Hopefully my 3/8 AR500 will stand up to your .50 at 980 yards?
 
Yes I think it will be fine Dave. I've got 1/2" targets too. The 50 doesn't do anything to the 1/2" plate at 300m. 3/8 at over 3x that distance should be fine :)

Blow out your knee or something?

Yeah, blew it out good, got surgery on my ACL, MCL, patellar tendon and meniscus. The gf is supposed to give me a ride up to the range soon, seeing as I can lie prone now, haha.
 
I think CanAm has the DA 50 with the ATRS lower and non-restricted for $2,500.00 .
