Hey folks – I’m in the market for an entry level mid distance scope (hunting to 300 yards, target to 600 yards). The short question is: What fits this list of criteria?
1) FFP
2) Variable Magnification
a. Min magnification 3x
b. Max magnification 14-20x
3) Objective 40-50mm
4) Price???? Preferably not more than 700... but if there's a good reason I can do a bit more
5) New or used
Optional:
6) Covered or lockable turrets; a lot of my hunting involves pushing through thick bush at some point
7) Parallax adjustment; not strictly necessary, but a nice to have
I've never really been into optics and just used whatever I ended up with, so seeing as I'm deliberately moving into somewhat longer range shooting I figured I should get something that suited what I want to do. I accept FFP can be less suitable at lower magnification with some reticles. I can live with that.
My main aim is a simple, no frills, reliable, solid good quality scope. I’d rather less features and more reliability/better glass.
