I want to buy a lower priced O/U shotgun in 20ga or .410. Already have a 870 12 ga for waterfowl.

I've been looking at the Stoeger Condor model or the Mossberg silver reserve Field. Which would be the better buy. Also which one has better ejectors or selective ejection? This will be a walkabout bush gun for shooting grouse in thick cover.

I haven't tried the Stoeger, but I have the Silver Reserve and I'm really happy with it. I like the looks of the Mossberg a bit better personally, but that may be irrelevant. Good luck on your selection.

I had a Stoeger. It worked fine although it only extracted rounds and didn't eject them. There may have been a way to change that but I had no manual with it. The action seemed very tight to open and close but wasn't a problem. I bought it on a whim and had two others that were lonely so I traded to another GunNut for some high power glass. Nice gun to carry.

Made by Khan, I've read about issues with them. If I were you I'd check the EE for a while, every now and then a used Citori/Beretta will come up. Better off with a quality used gun where parts and service are readily available.

I bought one of the Stoeger 12/20 combos a couple years ago as an impulse buy.
I love it with the 20ga barrel on it, well balanced and stays on level after the first shot. With the 12ga barrel mounted on it, it leaves much to be desired thoguh. It seems unbalanced and come off level when you shoot.

I doesn't have anything fancy like selective eject, etc. It was pretty stiff at first though, I have about a 1000 rounds though it now and it seems to be a little better.

If your around Winnipeg, contact me and you can try it out.

I have shot my friends Stoeger 12ga a bit and I liked it, it seemed to kick more than my 870 tho. But I really like the looks of the mossberg thats why I'm leaning towards that one.

I have a Deluxe Condor and I like it alright. The action was tight but overal not a bad gun. I got mine for a steal so I couldn't pass it up. As mentioned, if you have the $$ and the time be patient and watch the EE for a nice used Citori or Beretta. It just all depends on your budget and how much you are going to use it.

Well this gun doesn't need to be real pretty hence the reason I'm going entry level. It will spend a lot of time on the front gun rack on my quad and front seat of the truck. It would be different if I was shooting trap/skeet twice week I might spend more. But I will keep an eye out for a citori like you said.

Yes it is, very much appreciated gesture!

After reading that rateitall.com website, that might be enough to scare me off of the mossberg.

"The 20ga could not hit the side of a barn door. Same rust problem and poor quality. Also, several times when I closed the receiver of the 20ga.the top barrel would fire." This is scary!!!
