I like the eo tech but dont like the idea of leaving it on constantly. Is there a pressure switch that could be attached to it for activation???

Uh duh what if your carrying the thing for 12 hour shifts. 4 days a week 50 weeks a year. You go thru a lot of batteries. May run out when u need it the most

The battery life on eotechs isn't as bad as you would think. I used the heck outta mine and it took almost 1 year for them to drain. Even then, when you turn it on, it flashes momentarily to let you know your battery life is under 30%, it'll still work. I made a habbit of keeping a spare set of AAs in my pistol grip compartment so when my batteries go down I have some on hand. Also, if you are worried about your sight failing during work or whatever your intended application is, pick up a good set of BUIS. Optics are nice, but like any electronic, they can fail. Just my .02$.

I had an EO TECH on my C8 FTHB during my tour in 2008 in Afghanistan and still have one now ( and we have them in Canada too) and when you leave the FOB, it's allways switched on. Can't tell you how long exactly they last because of different brand of batteries and guys put different settings but just like TK-Hryciuk mentionned before, we have spare batteries in the pistol grip. Just like we do here, pressure switch is for laser and flashlight.

...Ugh.

.....Really?

EOTech's have an automatic 8 hour shutoff, after the last button is pushed. The Reticle ALSO blinks briefly on startup when there's 2 or so hours of usable battery life left. It won't run out when you need it most, unless you're mentally handicapped and completely oblivious. ... In which case, why wouldn't you be working for the NDP in some capacity?

Also.. there is a pressure switch attached to it. More than one. They're called buttons. Putting an easily activated pressure switch for your optic somewhere on your weapon is one of the worse ideas I've heard of.

And I can't believe that I spent the time to give a semi-serious answer to this.

I assume your armored car, as you have noted stated otherwise to the mall cop jokes
And so your mounting to a shotgun.....shotguns are primarily close range tools, moreso for armored folks then anyone else.
What is the point in having an eotech?

No not armoured car. the mall reference I assumed was a joke so I continued on with it. Thanks for everybody that gave constructive feed back. Just didnt like the idea of having eo tech on constantly. Or having to remember to turn it on in a stressful situation. May stay with ACOG for these reasons

If I remember correctly from the manual: One of the buttons is an automatic 8 hr shutoff, and the other is a 4 hour. You can also power it down manually.

If you want 8 hours you turn it on with the "up" or increase brightness arrow, and "down" or decrease brightness arrow for 4 hours.

The fact that this battery life/remote switch question is being asked, only serves to answer the bold in your post above.

Your statement raises more questions. If you aren't MIL or LE then I presume your stressful situation would be home defense yes? If the answer is no then you have nothing to worry about. Second, unlike cheap pieces of sh*t reddots, the EoTech will run just fine if left on. If you're nervous about battery life then change the batteries every week, every month or everyday. AA batteries are cheap, and if you're concerned about your optic during a stressful situation then the price of batteries shouldn't be an issue.

Well I guess I wont be asking anymore questions on any forums. As I am obviously mentally handicapped or completely oblivious. Thanks for your professional assessment

When a new guys shows up with a question like that and making insinuation that it is work related but doesn't give further details, one is to expect mom's basement, mall ninja reference.

Don't be mad, Komodo. There's nothing wrong with being inquisitive. I'm sure that nobody meanto to insult you by poking a little fun at the question. Welcome to CGN by the way :)

I myself also like the EOTech. I had never tried one out before I invested in one, but did dabble with some of the cheap red dot reflex systems. The cheap red dot I bought was somewhat fragile, and zeroing it was a *****. I'd get the up/down dialed in, and then adjust the L/R. Adjusting the L/R threw the up/down out of whack! I thought that there had to be a better way. So, I bought the EO.

At first I was very unimpressed with the reticle. It looked very fuzzy compared to the cheap red dot. After letting my eye adjust, it became more clear. Did you experience the same thing?

If you can't handle some brutal honesty to silly questions on an online forum, you're in for a rough go at life. Some here were poking fun while others were simply digging for more details before offering logical explanations. If you don't wish to divulge your intentions/purpose for the optic then you're not going to get a serious and productive answer.

Its not about letting your eye adjust. Its about reading the MANUAL and learning how to use a CCO/reddot optic. STOP STARING AT THE RETICLE and keep BOTH eyes open. I don't know how many times I or others have to post this information. Its not like your grandpas POS scope with a criminally narrow field of view and the belief that you should/must close one eye to use. Both eyes open for all optics if and when possible. Definitely for 1x optics and all reddots.
