So the DD V5 should be on its way soon and I will be needing an optic. I dont have experience with either set up but im torn between the EXPS2 with Gen33 3X Magnifier and the Aimpoint micro T-1 with the Aimpoint 3x magnifier.

I know that the Aimpoint set up is smaller and shaves almost 12 ounces off of the weight when compared to the EO-Tech. I dont care about the price difference between the two.

I would like input from those who have used both and who can comment on the quality as well as how much the weight and size differences matter. I will be running the set up with folding BUIS front and rear sights for what its worth.

Oh and my general purpose for now is destroying paper products however I would like to get into competitive action shooting down the road and want the right sight from the get go!

Fire away CGN'ers!

All of our demo guns but one are Running the Aimpoint T1 micro.
All of the OSTS team are shooting 3 gun, idpa and the like.
we have all used Eotec at one time of another, the feadback we have had from our Mil customers, is that they find the aimpoints faster and less prone to fail then the Eotec.
Having said that the new Eotec EXP should have alot of the issue fixed.
Myself i would take an aimpoint over the Eotec as well just due to how sharp the dot is.

I use an Aimpoint Comp ML2 on my M14 and an EOTech XPS2 on my AR.

I much prefer the EOTech for the closer in shooting because I have a wider field of view with the EOTech.
I use the Aimpoint on my M14 because mainly the extremely sharp dot does well at distance.

Ive switched them around but I keep going back to my current set up. I never have the desire to use the magnifiers and have never noticed any difference in the weight.

As I joked with my shooting bud... "If you feel you need a Gameboy reticle to hit a target at the range then fill your boots."

However, IMHO shooting with Aimpoints reduces the visual clutter in your sight picture and for me I've found this to improve my accuracy and speed.

I was doing "Draw-and-shoot" drills to practice quick target acquisition at the range the other day with orange coloured clays on the berm and getting decent results with an Aimpoint P.R.O. This was no magnification at ~40m.

e.g. 1 or 2 clays per 5 rounds were hit and the misses were within a 10" of the clay.

My T1-Micro has a brighter dot than the P.R.O.

By dialing down the brightness the Aimpoints I find they are precise enough for me out to 100m. 200m is doable but hard on my eyes.
