EOTEC - Where can I find one?

I ended up ordering the XPS2 Zombie Stopper, and also found a QD adapter that doesn't raise the sight at all. Not sure I'll worry about a QD adapter at this point since I can't see the immediate need for frequently removing the sight.

Is that possible? How can you add a QD adapter and not raise the sight? Do you replace the screws or something?

As posted in the product's description "Cam operated quick-detach lever with an extra large finger loop replaces existing thumbnut mounting screw on EOTech for rapid installaton and removal. Does not change the mounting height of EOTech and allows co-witnessing with iron sights."

I see... anyhow, I have an EXPS and can't remember the last time I took it off my AR... I have found that the primary usage the QD has served is to have friends or family try to remove your sight... YMMV...

EOTech's are great. Aimpoints are great. Most of the people who knock EOTechs, have minimal experience with the latest generations of them.

I have one of the earliest generations of the 552 (with the flat plastic buttons instead of raised rubber). It was used operationally (not by me), and has seen a ton of abuse. I also have an XPS 3-2 which was used operationally and got smashed around. There is a world of difference between these models, and anyone who claims otherwise is typically in the business of retailing Aimpoint products. ;-)

I'm happy with my choice to get an EOTech. If I had the option of trying one out first that would be awesome, but don't know anyone with one so that's outa the equation. XPS2 Zombie Stopper is on its way :D

I'm partial to the few EOTechs I've tried myself but apparently there have been some issues with the 553/SU-231 where recoil was causing issues with the longitudinally oriented battery compartment. I don't know if there's any documented evidence of this but SOCOM is adopting the EXPS3-0 as the SU-231a so there could be some truth to the rumour.

haha it seems as soon as I purchased one there are more available on the EE :( haha oh well. I've seen a few go up for sale just in the last couple of days.

Could check out a lucid..

PS I have a massive (corrected) astigmatism and I don't have an issue with either of my EOTECHs... Mind you I have glasses specifically for shooting

It seems to be different for some people. I have special shooting glasses set up for pistol and while they work great for that application they are unusable with my Eotech where I use my regular progressive bifocals which while not perfect to do work. I was going to buy an Aimpoint but made many inquiries before I did. Several people reported the same issue with the Aimpoint dot. I ended up with a Leupold Prismatic 1 x tactical scope which works very well for me. It lacks some of the advantages of both the Eotech and Aimpoint but the reticle is clear and sharp with my progressives but once again not so with the shooting glasses. Try before you buy if at all possilble.

I have tried many many sights, and for me and many others Eotech is the way to go, from large field of view, small center reticle dot for accurate sharp shooting (aimpoint red dot is far to large for sharp shooting) Quick target acquisition and ranging with the large circle in the reticle. All in all, out of the many many I tried, I would not give up my Eotech. I have the Eotech 553, for CQB i turn the brightness up, for sharp shooting, I turn the brightness down and can do headshots at 300m all day long. Aimpoint during trials we were lucky to strike the torso at 300m, the reticle covered the entire body. And for many in the law enforcement tactical world, Eotech is the way to go. I can see for long deployments in the military, the fact the sight is battery powered and doesnt last as long as aimpoint could be a issue, but there is a warning at I believe begins at 8 hours remaining and continues till its dead, so as the reticle starts to blink, swap batteries and you wont wind up with a ineffective paperweight with a window in a firefight. A red dot sight is meant for CQB, quick target acquisition, however if you need to engage targets further with any precision, Eotech fits the bill as well.

Only downfall to eotech I have ever witnessed, at times, shutting it down and powering it back up, the zero will shift slightly. This has not happened with my eotech, but I witnessed it at a range before and it was discussed on a marksman course that this could happen with eotech sights. There is a allowance of 2 MOA shift according to military requirements ( I was only told this, unverified)
