This might have already been beaten to death. What is the highs and the lows of the Eotechs and the Aimpoints? My use it only for hitting the range and hunting. Looking to get a a red dot sight that will actually last a long time.

The only postive thing I hear about Eotechs over Aimpoints is some people claim faster retical/dot acquisition.

Aimpoint wins on everything else, and probably are the same at acquisition times.

I have both, eotech is faster as its easier to get into view as it's just a window.. aimpoint is much much much clearer (the dot) for shooting at range and the battery life is a load better on the aimpoint..

+1 for aimpoint battery life. Aimpoint PRO is designed to be left on and lasts 3 years. I have an older eotech, the "n" battery model if anyone remembers those and I swear I hear it go "OM NOM NOM!" when I put fresh batteries in it. They last for about 2 months. Plus with astigmatism the eotech is really blurry to me, the aimpoint is too but it seems to be to a lesser extent.

FWIW I have never used an eotech, but I do have an aimpoint comp m4. I find that it is very fast to pick up and works very well. Batteries last forever. There is no ranging but thats not really what a RDS is for.

The EOTech isn't even in the same league as the Aimpoint. The Aimpoint has better reliability, durability, and a battery life that allows it to be left on continuously with annual battery changes.

The title of a recent post at the Modern Service Weapons blog says it all:
"My EOTech works flawlessly on Modern Warfare"

I have both the EOTech 553/SU-231 and an Aimpoint. The EOTech is by far my favourite. The acquisition is much better/faster in my opinion. As long as the outer circle is on target your good to go! Better view as well vs. the round sights like Aimpoint. This of course is just my preference and means absolutely nothing lol :)

I see most of the Operators in the forces run Eotech, since they are able to run basically what ever they like I would have to think its a damn good site as they shoot more rounds in one day at the range than most people shoot in a year.

Did you actually just say that...... Comparing aimpoint to a eotech is like comparing norinco to lmt. There is a very good reason why eotechs are used world wide by most of the top forces in the world. When you compare the lowest eotech to the highest aimpoint there obviously will be more benifits on the top model aimpoint.

Eotech is a holographic sight, the aimpoints are overpriced bushnells. My exps3-4 is
Flawless with a 900hr batt life on full power. If thats not good enough batt life i dont know what is.

Reliable ... They are mounted to .50 bmg machine guns in the military...
Can an aimpoint do that?

I own both. No reliability issues. I prefer the Eotech, but just because I prefer holo style sights. As for battery life...If you buy a $600 sight, affording batteries every 6 months shouldn't be an issue.

OP, Can't go wrong either way... Try them both and by which ever you like the most. Don't worry about what we think
