EoTech EXPS3 or something else for Bren 2?

It's time to swap up the optics on my Bren 2 as my LPVO is going elsewhere and I'm trying to avoid red dot sights due to an astigmatism.

I've read that Holographic based optics are fine for correcting this issue and that Eotech seems to be the biggest name in holo sights.

I'm considering the EoTech EXPS3, are there any others worth considering in this price range?

The 3.5x acog and a offset red dot is a great set up for the bren, but I still ended up putting an eo tech on it. With a magnifier behind it its a pretty hard to beat set up

Yeah eotech holos and the vortex uh-1 werent good for my astigmatism. I currently have the eotech 1-10 on my bren 2.

Have you tried the holosuns with a circle and dot? For me they dont have the starburst that just a dot has.

If you have astigmatism issues with plane red dot sights, an Eotech is going in the wrong direction. I have astigmatism and don't really have any serious issues with basic red dots but I find the Eotech to be absolutely horrible. It's like looking at a starburst.

A red dot is generally fine, you just need to turn the brightness down a little and then live with a little bit of imprecision in the dot. Dot sights aren't precise anyway.

I think a prism sight is the best for astigmatism but those don't seem to be available in a simple dot. They all have complex reticles with BDC points etc.

To my eyes Eotechs had some starburst, but the UH1 was fine. For some reason Holosun red dots are fine for my eyes, but other RDs starburst pretty badly.
I suggest you look through an Eotech in person before parting with your money.

If you have an astigmatism, avoid holos paired with a magnifier. I shot worse with them as it bloomed way worse than u magnified. Was bizarre. Way worse than any red dot

Interesting, that is the opposite of what I read regarding holo vs RDS.

My RDS looks like a snowflake to me.

My illuminated reticle on my Strike eagle has slight distortion but it's usable.

My firedot on my Leupolds is crisp and clear, can't explain that one.

I'll make sure to try these Eotechs in person first at the LGS before dropping the cash.

As far as astigmatism; I've had my best luck with Holosuns/Sigs. Eotechs work fine for my eyes, minor fuzz unmagnified, however with a magnifier behind them the reticle looked super crisp, others have the opposite experience. Really hard to say without trying first hand.
