EoTech G23.FTS

50Calshooter, Thanks for the pms, pictures and review.
I see you have the flip lever to the right hand side, are you left handed, or do they only come that way?

I'm right, the mag flips to the left side, I wouldn't want it flipping over where brass gets ejected.

Hate to be the ball breaker here, but your EOTech is sitting about 1/3 of an inch too low, relative to the magnifier.

Actually I used the supplied spacer on my magnifier mount so I could get it to clear my BUIS. I still have a full view of the sight and it doesn't really cut any of the field of view out. I'm waiting for the new gen2 BUIS they are slimmer and more low profile, then I can remove the spacer.

Wow.... this is the first time I've ever read anyone state praise for an ARMS mount.

So far so good, it's solid and seems very well built, I have no reason to think otherwise.

This looks like a good place to ask. How crisp should the reticle on a Eotech 511 model be? Should it be very crisp like the graphic representations or somewhat fuzzy? Hard to tell sometimes from pictures on the net. I ask because I just picked up an older supposedly unused one at a discount and it seems fuzzier than I expected.

It should be pretty clear, the center dot should be just 1MOA.

It also depends what you mean, there's a bit of grain and haze, as you get when looking at a laser, but in terms of focus, it should be fairly crispy.

Thanks. Seems like mine might be a bit fubar. The batteries are low however so I will replace that first and see what happens.

They are an older model. Discontinued a last year, I think.
I once found a discontinued product line on EOTech's website with some literature on the 4x.

I have no idea why they would discontinue it I would like a 4x myself. Maybe I should try a knockoff for s**t-and-giggles if they are dirt cheap.:D

So, that one for sale in the EE is a 1st gen, although being X3? I can't find anything on the net explaining the differences between the two.

Same here one eye better than the other, I had originally thought my Eotech was f'ed up, but it was only my vision, to prove it, take a picture of the reticle with a camera, if it comes out crystal clear and sharp, it's your eyes.

I got one of these second generation models, MUCH better than the first model. I actually returned the first generation model because of a bad mount, IMHO.

The mount on the second generation does not move anymore like the first generation used to.

Only detail, since I am a lefty, the mount lever faces forward so I loose one slot on my base, but it`s not a big issue. As for interference with ejected brass, no problem, it`s mounted on a Tavor :)

Well second detail, no lens caps. The back one is easy to find, but the front one, I guess I`ll have to get a regular cap and cut it. The base goes all the way to the edge of the unit.

My 2c.

Same here , i have a stigmatism in my right eye so trying to get a sight picture with a red dot reticule can sometimes be a pain in the ass .

That setup has always looked neat but do you find it changes your weight distribution at all or ability to shoulder the firearm ?

The sight normally is a bit pixelated, no biggy. However, used with the magnifier it is crystal clear sharp.

No way, this is a tight setup, lots of versatility and in no way does it effect the operation of the rifle. Just cherry, simple as that.

If you have a little vision trouble, the site will be hazy. Pixilated(sp?).
My right is better than my left, but you need 20/20 to see it real crisp.

My others scopes are: Elcan Spectre DR, Leupold Mk 4 and Nightforce and I can see their reticles clearly. But of course none of them have a lazer system that's why I was wondering.
My right eye is the weeker one but my left is 20/20 but I have no problems sighting with either eye. Though I have a little problem reading the ballistic info in the Elcan with the right eye. But nothing compared to how uncrisp the lines on the Eotech are. It's not blurry so mush as I can see the reticle composed of radiating noise and spikey lines. I'll take it to a store to compare with a NIB one and make a determination from there.

BTW When I first turned the Eotech on the reticle was placed all the way to the left upper corner. I had to do a lot of adjustment to get it centered. Is this common with Eotechs?

I just went to a store and compared it to a new unit. The reticle was about the same so its just is like that. But the cranked over to the side thing though is another problem since it appears that it may not be holding zero. :(
