I just purchased a used Eotech 552 on the forums, it looks to be in good shape and all, but the holographic image is a bit grainy and gritty looking. It's definitely not crisp. I tried turning the power up and down, but it doesn't seem to do much. Has anyone else noticed this with holographic sights? This is my first experience using a holosight, but all the red dots I've used in the past have been much sharper.

I should clarify, I have a problem with being very anal about little things. That's really the root of this thread, I want to know if I'm just expecting too much...

The Eotech's quality seem to have taken a dump lately.

I have 512 and 552 and both reticles are crisp bought them last year.

Their customer service also leaves lots to be desired.

Hmm, I should've google searched this first. It would appear that if you have astigmatism (which I do) or lousy vision, the reticle will appear grainier than for someone with 20/20 vision and eyeballs that aren't shapped like bullets. :(

I guess I'm going to have to settle for a red dot...

I had an EoTech a few years ago and found the reticle to be grainy as well.................I didn't find the reticle crisp looking at all...................I stayed with my Aimpoint Comp M2.............

SKBY.

Hmm, I'll have to do a test! Afterall, what good scientist wouldn't?!

I'll have some people with perfect vision look through this same Eotech and they can tell me what they think... Then I'll look through it with contacts and glasses and make some conclusions. Anyone want to pony up for some grant money? :D

Hey Cancer,

I almost sent back my Bushnell holosight, because the circle was oval, and the dot in the middle looked like a comma. And everything was ugly grainy. It turned out that it is because of the astigmatism. :)

It is annoying when you stare at the circle and the dot, but you will see when you look at the target, you will hardly notice this problem.
