I understand that one of the greatest advantages that the EOTech has over the Bushnell Holosight is it's "ruggedness." Would welcome comments on the technical aspects of the "holographic system" employed in each. Are they the same? Of similar quality?

From what I've been told, the differences are the metal shroud and 'hardened electronics' on the EOTech (whatever that means - probably the circuit board is secured in an epoxy resin or something).

The Hologram system should be the same. I've never seen any differring specs.

I was told at one time that Eotech makes the Holosights for Bushnell - a copy of their entry level unit. If that is true, the electronics should be very similar if not identical. On the outside Eotech has a hood over the glass for extra protection.

That would seem to make sense...especially since Bushnell's Holosights are linked on the Eotech Website.

I've owned both and, like previously stated, the Eotech has a metal shroud for added protection. It all depends what you are using it for and your buget. If its going on a range only gun then think... how much abuse does it see? If the answer is alot (maybe you should take care of you stuff ;) ), or you want the cool factor, get the Eotech. Otherwise the Holosight is fine (and suprisingly rugged), and save some cash for ammo. On a field use arm that is used as a field arm should, get the Eotech for the added protection. The reticle and visible intensities are the same, quality included.
Just my opinion.

I agree. Other than the shroud I really don't see any difference for range use.

If it's for the range save some money and get the Bushnell.

Whoa!

New Holosights

Here's the reply from Andrew Higginson:
We have the new holo-sights on order from Bushnell, but they did not give me a delivery date.
I will be meeting with my rep next week end and I'll inquire as to when we can expect them.
Also, our 2006 lists will be ready at the end of this month, I still haven't received all of the pricing from our suppliers.
Thank you,
Andrew Higginson
