An Eotech will mount to any picatinny rail and likely most weaver rails.

Pretty much any side mount scope rail should work for you. The ones that cost the least can be found at Marstar. Higher end rails like Smith and Springfield may hold on to your gun a bit better but not nessicary.

I run mine on a forward mounted Springfield Scout mount and it's awesome!

Took it deer hunting this year and I swear by it in close quarters. You'll love it once it's set up, I tried it on my ARMS #18 and didn't like it as much as the Scout mount!

Got Pictures?! :D

Here's a couple of pics.

The SOCOM was cut down by Smith Tactical. The Eotech is on a Springfield Scout Mount (bought it from one of the guys at M14 Forums), Rooster Op rod guide, cheek piece and R33 bolt release installed, USGI synthetic stock Navy Front sight from GG&FB or Skullboy (can't remember which). Inspiration provided by Hungry.

Both rifles shoot extremely well.

I sighted the SOCOM conversion in for 50 yards and it prints an inch or less at that distance using the Eotech. I used it for deer this year and I was definitely happy with its compactness and pointability. The Eotech was something I've never used hunting before (used to have one on my C8 and MP5 at work though). Shot a doe at 40 yards facing me and the shot was exactly where I wanted it.

Only drawback I found was that the SOCOM is alot heavier than the Savage Scout that I used to hunt with so to combat that it'll mean more gym time!;)

Sweet looking rigs. I got the full length in Cadpat as well. Would like to get a SOCOM setup when Marstar comes thru again. Not in any rush to pay $700 for a $400 rifle. This is in no way a negative refelction on the Nork quality. I'm just not in a big rush for a 2nd M14!

Regards,

Thanks Boomer,

I wasn't really shopping for another one either but who knows when the Marstar shipment will be in and one of the guys on here had one for $600.00 with a beautiful Boyd's walnut stock so I bought it.

I planned on the conversion before I bought the second one and my full length was shooting just too good to get cut down. :)

The only drawback is that I can't use them for 3 gun on on courses in the US because of the US import laws regarding Norinco.
