I'm generally not an EO fan these days.
However if you do have one I recommend the lower 1/3rd co-witness.
Which with a 552 or 551 (and the 511/512's) means you need a riser
It both uncluters the FOV, and raises the sight so your head position is higer for both better visibility and better balance.
This is the reason USSOC spec'd the 553 to be a lower 1/3 sight - the same way they have the Aimpoints mounted -- that there just may be considered a clue.
