With the recent news about EOTECH Optics, Is this going to be enough for people to write them off and just go to something else completely?

IMHO, people have been shooting them for years and still loving them. Why all of a sudden now, would it not be good enough?

I sent mine back , And I love this sight , all that it promises , how fast it is , the field of view , the 65 moa ring with 1 moa dot reticle ,
But , Any sight , weapon or weapon system that has the potential for wondering zero , you can not trust .

Hopefully that they get it all worked out , I'd like to get another .

It is a simple matter of mechanics.....

Temperature variation also causes your rifle to change POI, do you no longer trust your rifle?

I'm going to send mine back, not because it doesn't work as advertised (apart of it ). But because they lied to people whose life depended on the optic, them people being Mil and LE.

Yeah that was a terrible thing they did lying about their specs

Still I am pretty happy with my 518, the 7mm riser is nice to have.

Then again I am not running it in -60 degree environments.

Of course it depends , temperature variation does affect the Rifle and the ammo , that's well known , but in the case of the Eotech , and I do really like this sight , its change in the POI from the POA is not consistent and does not return to zero , unlike how temperature can affects the Rifle and ammo , which from what I understand is a consistant , and I'm just talking out my ass , I don't know how they work , I just shoot them.

I really like my eotechs. I had 5.. sent 2 back already. Will be sending a third once the cheques come in. But will be keeping the best two I have. I won't be giving those up... use them for shotgun deer hunt and playtime. These are not meant to be a precision optic anyways. .. it's a close quarter combat sight.

I didn't like mine from day one, in bright sunlight I found the red dot near impossible to see. I'm still a crosshairs guy, and although I have a Burris mtac, I still would prefer a proper reticle, so I will be happy once the cheque rolls in

You can adjust the intensity but pushing on the up arrow a few times. . My dad was the same. . He didn't realize until I showed him. You can make the eotech so bright you can see it very bright under any condition.

Local police tactical teams are still using them. I'm still hitting what I aim at when I'm at matches...

I'd rather they not have the potential issue, but I find I'm waaaaaay faster and more accurate with the "Donut of Death" than any other reticle I've used.

Actually, there was a problem with certain Eotechs once upon a time where they were really dim. The one I sent back was like that too. Didn't matter how many times you pressed the 'up' button (I'm not so dumb that I didn't try that first) it was still very dim. The funny part is that Eotech wouldn't fix it under warranty years ago.......now they are refunding the entire purchase price

I'mstill seriously considering buying one. I just don't get how people raved about them and never complained of any issues with them then all of a sudden they're $hit and they all have to get rid of them

It has more to do with their business practice that they lied about its performance. That and I have a 10 year old Eotech that I will never get the money for on the second hand market so why not get money back while they allow it?
