Eotech or Holosight

But whatever you can afford. IF you want the armor that you get protecting it then get the EoTech. If you want the same thing without the armor then get the Bushnell.
 
The Eotech has a metal hood that goes around the glass. It sticks out all around the glass casing and acts as armor to protect it.

From what I've read, they are the same internally. The name and protective hood are the only differences. It's a tough choice. The other option is to buy an Eotech 512 or a version without night vision capability. It might not be as "tactical" but they are significantly less expensive. Just another option.

The one thing I do like about the Eotech, are the 553 models with the quick release. I use it on my AR-15 upper and my .22 AR upper. Holds zero and comes off really quickly. I find this helpful when changing between a scope (Also with quick release rings) and the Eotech. The AR system is really versatile. This just helps you get the most out of it.

By the way, shooting metal with an AR .22 upper and the Eotech, is a heck of a lot of fun. This combination is perfect. The only issue is, missing becomes so rare that it's almost boring. The speed and accuracy at close ranges sure is amazing. Lots of fun.
 
Eotech has been building the Bushnell Holosite under contract for a number of years. For the last couple of years the Bushnell model was rarely available abd now how been dropped from production. This was confirmed at the Shot show by both Eotech and Bushnell. So unless someone has old inventory or you are looking at a used one you are sol. Phil.
 
Bushnell Holosight

Today I picked up one of the last two Holosights that Le Baron in Ottawa had in stock. $245 plus taxes. Compared to the $450+ for a similar EOTech I think its a pretty fair price.

The plastic shroud is pretty solid and would be more than adequate for range use.

I couldn't resist this when I saw them because the plan is to mount it on an LMT Defender 16" CQB MRP... and alternately an RRA AR-15 Pistol.

Also have the CMMG .22lr conversion kit on order so... fun times to be had.:D

Samething for me, for the price of one Eotech I take 2 holosights ($ 245).

One on my FS and one on my paintball gun.
 
So are you guys saying the Bushnell is as rugged as the Eotech. ie i want to mount my Bushnell on a shotgun. or possibly an M-14. am i good to go?
 
I haven't handled an EOTech. But the shroud/frame of the bushnell is solid and it does not feel cheaply made. Also the bushnell is rated "waterproof". I'd say you are good to go.

Thanks. i wasnt necessarily concerned about the shroud/frame, but more forma recoil point of view.

i need to have another look at my bushnell. i think i can fab up a pretty straightforward shroud in no time.
 
Just checked Bushnells web site Holo water proof, shock proof and good for handguns and shotguns. I took mine off a pistol and mounted it on a 10/22.
 
From the Bushnell instruction manual for the Holosoght 510023 (N batts) and 510022 (AA batts)

"With high recoil guns the reticle pattern may blink off and on before the battery check indicates low battery" (reticle normally blinks after recoil as indication of low battery state)

So the this model has been tested in high recoil guns like shotguns. There's more shotgun/bushnell holosight related on the weeb.
