Eotech repair?

I got the black one, and now I am thinking I should have gotten the tan one....anyone has a brand new tan one who is willing to trade? :D

Sounds weird that it's draining the battery that quickly, even if you leave it on, EOTechs have an 8 hour auto-shutoff.

The AA 512/552 models have this issue a lot. The XPS series is not immune to the battery vampire issue. Elite Arms out of the US is the owner of EoTech and they do have excellent customer service, except they probably won't be able to take care of you unless you go through a dealer. Invest in an Aimpoint.

Usually Excessive Battery drain is due to a componet in the hardware dragging it down. However some electronics (cameras, Cellphones, etc) that require higher consistant current output than a alkaline or NI-mH can provide require a Lithium Battery. Even some wrist watches will stop working when the coincell drops below 3vdc. Make sure your replacement battery is a lithium coin cell and not a cheap alkaline- it will stay at its rated voltage for a much longer time. A good battery should be .2vdc above its rated voltage, IE a 3v litium coin should measure 3.2vdc+. Any multimeter will be able to tell you your voltage.

So what if we don't have multimeter? Is there a way to check it just by reading the package or info on the battery?
Any battery brand and type that you know that have the best performance?

good to know...thank. yep...they were energizer, but alkaline units. I got it working with new batteries...but since it is not under warranty, I took advice and tried fixing it myself. i removed the rubber gromets with the coils from the front battery compartment, stretched them out. works now,...although I will not be keeping the batteries loaded in it, but rather just have it ready to load before I use it. Ordered a new sight and will use this as a back up. Also thinking about the vortex strike fire...looks like good reviews

L3 is awsom for repairs I was having parallax issues with my XPS and they fixed it for free all I had to pay was shipping. L3 can't export it directly soo you have to go through elite arms. However if you call L3 tech support they can help get you in contact with the right person at elite and elite will issue you an RMA number and email youva form that you include with the package. It took mine about 6-8 weeks from the time I sent it out to the time I got it back.

what was the problem exactly when you mentioned "parallax issues"? Can you please describe the problem? Thanks

You require a Multimeter. If you don't have one canadian tire stocks them for 25 bucks. As for a brand I recommend Panasonic, Don't get ripped off in wallymart for 5 or 8 bux. This is a example of where our shop orders some of its parts for electronic repair: http://www.digikey.ca/product-detail/en/CR2032/P189-ND/31939 that is the 2032 coilcell example.

Battery contacts are fragile, but also as preventive maitenace you can q-tip on a de-oxit to the battery and terminals. This prevents corrison and helps with contiunity between the battery and the battery contacts. I must warn do not spray it into the sealed unit or saturate the unit as it is conductive.

I use this brand at my work:

Just noticed that stuff was out of stock, can also use:
http://www.globalsemi.com/productdetails.aspx?itemno=D5S6
Product is Called Deoxit D5, it come sin many forms.

On that note, anything that is not maitenance or a cleaning should be sent to a authorized repair center. These sealed units are never the same once opened, and sevice manuals are usually not openly available.

when my rifle was in the rest i could put my retical on the target at 100yds when i moved my head up and down the redical would stay on target but when i moved my head left or right it would move left or right off target by about 6''. keep in mind you must preform this test at at least 50 to 100yds the redical is not paralax free at close range.
