Eotech XPS covers and zero??

Hi Everyone,
Just went and checked out the Eotech 3-0 and foud that I had a massive starburst. I then tried the Aimpoint and it did not seem to be an issue. I was in the store so I cannot say if focusing at distance if it will go away. I sure hope so considering mine is on the way.
Here's are some questions I have??
1) How should I mount the Eotech? I see some mounted all the way to the front while others all the way back.
2) I have been reading that 50y zero is good. What is the zero set to by default?
3) are there glasses I can get to fix austigmatism?
