Epps is not EMT friendly

Visa is the best way to protect your self as a consumer but I understand that some transactions call for EMT. Some business's use EMT and if EPPS has in the past, it would have be going above and beyond for them to accept the OP's EMT. Just because it is not stated on the site does not mean they can't do it.
As far as the shopping cart thing, I know the frustrations of having in in your cart just to be gone the next second (can and one say PR Vortex sale) but this is how it works one the internet. There are just far too many people that have items in their cart that they never intend to purchase, if those items were removed from the online inventory the second they were added to the cart then every online retailer would constantly be out of stock.
In God we trust, all other pay Visa.

"Can't hide it form the wife."
Very true and a good point. I've bought quite a few pieces on-line over the years, and have got some good deals there, usually 'just posted' items. I've also had some problems with them and would rather not deal with the owner. But they have a big turnover and one never knows what comes up. One of two sites I check every day.

I don’t complain much. Generally let’s be honest it falls on deaf ears. I’ve been on this forum since the beginning and years before it got restarted. Lots of dealings here with good folks. Great trader rating.

I bought a pistol in the fall from Epps, paid by EMT, all good, shipped, received, happy customer. I’ve been buying stuff from Epps for years.

After Christmas the family Visa bill is relatively high and I’d like to keep financial stress off the wife.

Today I go to buy a couple of rifles and some brass from them. Call the store, speak to a gun counter staffer, he takes my order. I say I’d like to pay by EMT. He tells me he can’t take that info over the phone it has to be done online in an online order. Ok I say no problem. I immediately go to the online ordering form. I order the same order and get to the payment portion. There’s no EMT provision, just credit card.

I call again and speak to the same counter person. He doesn’t know what to do. He transfers me to accounting. The pleasant lady there doesn’t know what to do. She transfers me to Wes the owner.

During this time one of the rifles is removed from my online cart and is no longer for purchase. I speak with Wes and he tells me, “Yes I’d rather not deal with EMT sales. It costs me money to use it and I’d rather deal with credit cards. It’s too much of a hassle”. I informed him this attempt at purchase is like me having an item in my cart in line to pay, cash in hand, and someone grabs it out of my cart and runs to the self pay checkout. Wes says, “I don’t agree with that analogy”. I mentioned my displeasure with the experience and he replied “Feel free to post about it on Gunnutz.”

So that’s where I am now. I see from the posts below anything negative posted about Ellwood Epps gets locked for some reason. So let’s not call this negative. Let’s call this a learning experience. I buy items for 3 large hunting crews in Huron and Bruce county. I will no longer be purchasing anything from Ellwood Epps in the future.

His store - his rules. Maybe he should change the name of the store though. I knew Ellwood and worked lots with his apprentice the late Jim Butcher. Welcome to 2022 I guess.

You “may not complain much”, but your sure darn good at it.

I am thinking that there are probably lots of stores who do not do EMT , and it is up to the store owner to decide what method of payment that they prefer . You can add payment onto your credit card at any time ; so it may have been easier to pay by credit card , and then add funds to your credit card as necessary . It does sound like there was a little bit of confusion over the payment options being offered by the store , and a item was bought from under the OP while he was sorting it out which can be frustrating . Maybe should have asked the store if the items in your cart could be put on hold until the matter was sorted out , but the same thing has happened to most of us at one time or another when something we wanted was bought from under us .

Nice attitude. <eye roll>

Looks like Wes is driving it into the ground these days. I will not be calling there in the future for anything.

Nobody should buy anything from Wes - Epps.
They signed a a contract ( he is Pres of the CSAAA ) with the Liberals to handle their gungrab program. Him and his cronies work for the Liberals now. Stay away…
