I have been shopping at Epps for years, have bought a decent amount of firearms from them and done my share of trading in as well. I just made another purchase and could not be happier with the service... Kevin is always a great guy to deal with. I look forward to picking it up and likely dropping more coin when I get there. It is inevitable...

Bottom line: Thanks for all the help over the years and keep up the good work.

(thought I would throw in a good review since many reviews are only made when they are negative)

I love Epps! I live in North Bay and the only place that sells firearms in town charges ridiculous prices. Epps is literally the closest place that chargers MSRP or less so needless to say I appreciate them very much. Always make a stop when I'm heading south. My only criticism is that they need a larger selection of milsurps. Looking to pick-up a Russian SKS (and ammo) as soon as funds permit and would love to be able to give them the business!

No doubt they are the biggest/best gun shop in Ontario....maybe Canada.
I had a bad experiance with them once but it was more than just their fault. I should have checked the bore before I bought it. It was a valuable lesson however and I went over my next purchase with a fine tooth comb.

I'll be honest; I think the service at Epps has really dropped off the last 5 years or so. I've been going there since I was a kid, with my dad. He bought things there for decades, and I'm now about 20 years into being a customer there.

In the last year, I really increased my presence there; I got into CQB, and have been buying ammo by the case, and thousands of dollars in other gear.

Despite the duration of loyalty to Epps, and despite the thousands of dollars I have spent there this summer, I often feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff there (not all of them; there are still some great ones there.)

I know it's busy there, and they are probably just sick of all the tire-kickers by the time I get there (I'm usually there late in the day), but I still think that every customer deserves a bit of attention.

I'll probably keep going there because of the decent price I get on .223, and for the fond memories I have of buying my first deer rifle there, from Wes, who was probably selling his first deer rifle.

I think there is room for Epps to improve their service though, and I hope they do.

Well here is my last experience there. Bought 5 boxes of 257 weatherby (cheapest place in Canada to get this by a long shot)...they shipped it to me ASAP....thank you

Im gonna have to disagree with the rest of you. I was so furious about the service that i had to leave. I don't have all day to shop there and 3 times now by the time the staff have to get around to me i need to leave. This is not an issue with the being in line , it an issue of employees literally ducking me to avoid dealing with me. Im not sure whether its because im younger and they think i might not be a "real" customer but they avoid me and avoid and avoid me. So i somtimes do wait in line , and then the guy whom im assuming is the boss questions whether i was next in line and some old fart speaks up saying that he was. Now i understand that is minor in its self and not really there fault , but add in that he was the third worker i was waiting for and that three other people piped up saying i was next in line. Anyways after waiting that long just to be told to go away i just left.

I want to support them but its hard to when i got more timley and much better service from the cabela's phone order people.

I have had similar good and bad experiences to those mentioned here. My only really "bad" experience was my first dealing with them, and there was an issue with the amounts promised on some trades. The amounts I was told seemed fair but then when I was told about %'s coming off of the amount if it was for sale, trade or consignment, really brought the amounts down, and that was before ATT's for consignment/sale were not automatically for a return trip in case there were issues, so I basically had to go along with it, or leave the guns there and get an ATT to go back again to pick them up. I have learned my lesson and now our communication on that sort of thing is gone over to the n'th degree before I go in. Never a problem since.

If you are having problems being ignored, here is my advice. Look like you are there to buy something and that you know what you want. If you are there looking all sheepish like a deer in the headlights you probably can get passed by if the next guy looks prepared. I hate waiting in a line up only to have the guy in front of me start asking questions and chatting monopolizing the sales guys time. That is what email is for. Ask your questions ahead of time, wait the day or two or ten to get the answers. That way when you go in, you are prepared to do your transaction, you get it done quickly and Bob is your uncle. Look like your next to be served and you will be. Be the ball.

Kevin always answers my emails right away, even if I am an idiot and ask the same question over and over. We usually get all our business worked out on line, then when I go to see him, it is basically "Hi", do the business, then "thanks, come again". I could not count the amount of times I have emailed and asked him about certain guns without buying them, I cannot fathom people doing THAT at the store holding up folks who know what they want, got the coin in hand and want to get out of Dodge ASAFP.

I to agree with everyone. All the purchases I have done over the years seem to be getting better and better with them.

Great work to the staff at Epps.

Greetings,

I have loved being an Epps customer from day one. First off, to some of the people who have had issues with Epps, name one gun store that the same thing hasn't happened. I have been to numerous gun stores and have had pretty much rhe same negative experiences at all of them one time or antoerh, and mostly it was due to lots of customers, not enough knowledgeable staff. This is a hard balance to do, soi normally I just walk away and come again another time.

Now, I have known Kevin since high school and trust me, he has ALWAYS been a gun guy. He knows his stuff, and is one of the funniest guys I know. Thanks to Kevin and all of the staff at Epps. Gonna miss you guys when I move out to Halifax.

With Greatest Respect,

Matt

3 rifles from them this year and 3 transactions very smooth, love the way they pack the rifles for shipping, maybe 3 mores rifles next year... Thank to Paul and Kevin... JP.

I would have to say Tuco Pike summed it up very well. This is an extremely busy place and I always allow at least 2 hrs. for a "visit". The only thing I would suggest to the management is it would be beneficial if they implemented a "Take a number" type of system as you come down the ramp. Once all the cattle are in the bottom pen it can get very hectic, particularly when everyone is on that light headed rush of fondling their new prospective purchase.

My only complaint is when trying to get some ammo on those busy days. You have to go downstairs to get someone to go upstairs and get it for you. It is too bad they could not put someone at the ammo sales during their busy times. Other than that they are Great.

:agree: Things sort of went haywire since the expansion.

Go to the ammo counter (upstairs...where the reloading stuff is) and never an issue.....other than one guy "looking" and telling me they didn't have ANY of the three types of ammo I asked for.....the same ammo the next guy I talked to walked back and grabbed all three off the shelf for me.....

One I could see, but all three? I woulda been pissed had I left without the ammo as I drove there specifically for it.
