I want to buy a 1911 and bid on one yesterday but the person hasn’t logged on for a few days. I have since found a similar one for sale. In the current market with a potential ban, how long is reasonable to wait before I can “cancel” my first offer and make an offer on the 2nd one? (I don’t want to miss out on both!)

Send another message saying that you have moved on. They will see both at the same time when they return and not be much inconvenienced.

You snooze, you loose is a fact of life for sellers as well as buyers particularly in the current situation.

Etiquette?

Not sure that is a thing with some folks on here. I replied to an add for a KIDD trigger, "I will take it" never had a response and add was taken down, I assume it was sold but OP could not even be bothered to send a note to that affect. (was I the only one?) A quick, "sorry sold" would suffice.

The fact that you are even asking about it shows character. As stated already, message that you have found something else and do what you need to, simple courtesy goes a long way.

You have used the terms "bid" and "offer".

Did you say "I'll take it"?

Go ahead and cancel your "offer". You didn't have a deal.
