I made what I thought was a fair offer(5% less than asking price) on the exchange for a rifle. The seller sat on my offer for almost two days before responding. This was dispite the fact he was on the site during that time . I have always responded right away to accept or decline anytime I am selling anything and have been given the same courtesy from other sellers. I feel the vendor was waiting for a better offer. What is a resonable time to wait for a responce.

I can see waiting for a better offer up to a point. As for him being online... If you walk away and leave the computer on it will show you being online and you could be miles from your computer. We all have a life off the EE, even if its not as fun:eek:

2 days doesn't seem too long and if it was a fresh posting I think I'd wait a bit if I thought my asking price was fair...some people are slow to communicate and some don't even respond if they don't feel like it that's just the way it goes on the internet.
Even though the green light is on it does not mean buddy is in front of the computer or that he is not busy entertaining other offers.
"I'll take it" works for me if the price is fair and if the price is high I'll usually wait a while before putting in a reasonable offer.

Did you buy the rifle?

No I did not, he came back with a counter offer and I told him no thanks.I was too ticked off by that point If he was entertaining other offers the apprpriate responce would be to advise me as such and tell me where I fit in the order. I have done exactly that in the past as a seller. That way every one knows where they stand instead of waiting two frickin days!

You sound really high maintenance. You made an offer, you didn't say "I'll take it"

Isn't there something more important in your life to get worked up about?

heck i payed for a gun and never heard back for 5 days that he evn got the funds ,two days in nothing on the internet comon get a life DUTCH il taKE IT DOES THE JOB EVERY TIME

Someone get this man a cyber tissue.
If you offered full price and no response maby you can complain. You made an offer he wanted full price so he waited to see if he could get it.
I dont know where you guys make up these rules for the EE.
Like the ^&*@# who gave me negative feedback because he claims to be the first to respond to my add, and I sold to someone else. I never said first offer takes it and the deal was dependent on location for pickup. I asked him about location he didnt reply and someone else was quicker. Check my feedback and be careful of doing any business with this genius.

if you didnt think of putting an expiry on your "below asking" bid then you allowed him to use you as back up offer, well, thats not his fault, he did nothing wrong .

and after waiting for more then a day bothered you then you could have sent a PM cancelling your bid.

its like the stock market , every order needs an expiry date.

" i'll take it " only works if the ad says its in effect otherwise the seller can make you wait .... lock
