ERA Enfield Identification Help Please

An ERA Enfield rifle has come into my possession, and I'd' like to know a bit more about it before deciding what to do with it.

It appears to be a US made, by Eddystone Remington Arms, but is a 303? Is this a P14 or a P17.

Pictures of the various markings are attached. The numbers on the bolt handle, receiver and barrel all match. The stock appears to have been "sporterized"?

Hi Willen, you can see on top of the barrel, it's stamped "303". So you have a P14. The M1917 would have, on the receiver, at the front, "Model of 1917".

Good candidate for restoration, if you can source out a full length stock.

I do believe an M1917 stock will fit, if you can't find an original. Repro M1917 stocks are still made.

Might be a tad high on that assessment, one just sold for $575 restored and another is stirring right now at 675, I restored one years ago now, took me forever to find a stock, only one I could find had the volley sight attachment, I believe I got the top wood from numrich. But they sure do look better in their original form, I have brought metal to do a second but I doubt I’ll ever find proper wood again.

Numrich has reproduction stocks, and a variety of hand guards available. You've also got to buy a bunch of hardware and other bits to finish off the restoration. The wood alone is going to be $300+ USD, plus hardware. Not a cheap restoration by any means, but it'll complete the rifle nicely.

Thanks very much for all the help guys, a P14 it certainly is, and its in nice shape, so I am torn - keep and shoot it, restore it and shoot it, or make some space in the safe.....decisions, decisions
