Erasing checkering job.... poorly done

What kind of wood is Spegal wood? i thought i had heard of most of the exotic woods used in making grips.

PS: I have stippled DOZENS of pistol frames, and it can look good, and feels better on my baby soft uncalloused hands than checkering.

I found the Browning Hi power frames were incredibly soft, and some SS Govt [ Randall ] frames were incredibly hard [ like white smoke comes out when you stipple with a carbide pyramid punch ].

I personally like a properly done stipple ... wood or metal.
