ES with 2400 powder?

Compared to Unique, 2400 is all over the map for me. Has anybody gotten a low ES with it. Latest test was 14.2 and 14.5grains with Cam pro 158's in 357mag. ES was 149 and 85. Shot all over the place. 7 grains of unique powder, same weight bullet, but Berrys and same OAL and crimp, I have got as low as 15. And that load shoots very well.

Use magnum primers with 2400 and your groups will tighten up. It is slower than Unique and takes more flame to ignite efficiently.

I thought that I read mag primers are a no no with 2400? But is needed for H110. I have a decent crimp, so don't think that part is the problem.

My data calls for magnum primers for all 357 loads. I just began loading for it and so far 2400 seems to edge out 4227, the only other powder I've tried.

So with mag primers, what is your 2400 charge weight?
I would like a stout, near max load. Since I have a 357 med load mastered.

Work your way up-----paying attention to your pressure signs-----this is where I like a chronograph.

Thanks, but ya how else would I know the ES was big without using one?

Pressure signs are tough. My cylinders with factory ammo already have sticky brass when ejecting. ( might get it polished or do it myself ) The primers look normal. The brass looks normal.
