One of the finest movies ever made

my little girls' favorite movie...they sing the song all the time...priceless.

note: not a huge bear and if you watch close you can see that he is being "baited" by something on the butt of the rifle. ;)

What's the best way to remove bear claws? And how do you guys do a European mount for the skull? Boil and hydrogen peroxide?

Damn big bear ... "Bart", owned by Doug Zeuss (Wasatch Wildlife, Utah) ... I was up very close to Bart many years ago - like 3 or 4 feet away - he was a big boy for sure !
I saw him in between release of "Jeremiah Johnson" and the filming of "Legends of the Fall". There was a "Special" made for T.V. with Doug Zeuss & Bart meeting one of the stars of "Legends...", Brad Pitt. Interesting show.

In "Legends", that's Doug (playing the "aged" Brad Pitt) wrestling with Bart at the end of the movie. Doug had many techniques for "asking" Bart to do things. Food rewards were key
(he was a sucker for honey buns & orange soda). One of the toughest things Doug had to do was train Bart to be gentle with a little bear cub (I think his name was "Zouk") for the filming of the movie "The Bear" .... due to the natural instinct for a full grown boar to kill cubs. Doug substituted a stuffed teddy bear at first, and utilized a little strawberry jam. Over a short period of time, Bart accepted Zouk, and on went the movie. NOT a great movie, but interesting to watch in regard to the animal training that went into it.
