I have a friend with a mint Win 94 30-30 built in 1958. Want is the current value of that lever gun ?

Is it a collectible ?

Thanks

Mush

$400-$600, at least that is the prices of the ones I see on the EE, I have been looking for a half decent 55 or there abouts. There are a few below $400 and above $600 but the bulk are within that range, not sure which 94 are collectable, some folks will chime in on that!

You know there were more than 7 million of them made before Winchester closed down in 2006 right?

How much does he want for it?
If it is close to your estimation pay and create no hard feelings because he is a friend and he wouldn't overcharge you . . . or would he?
Some friends always want the best deal always in their favour . . . some friends pay the piper.

A "mint" 1958 94 would bring $7-800 at a decent gun show. Never mind the 7 million line. They bring what the buyers will pay.

Just another standard pre 1964 Winchester Model 1894. Carbine I bet right? yawn. Nothing special. Now if it was an 1894 - 1899 with rifle length octagon barrel and plum brown bluing id be all over that. Or a Winchester 1895 in 7.62x54R.

Prices on winchesters 94's seem to have gone up a bit, but then so has the price of most new guns.
They may have made millions but how many are still mint and how many more will they make.....

Big difference between pre '64 and post '64. Most of those 7 million were post '64, and the pre '64's carry a premium.

Your or your friends idea of mint might be different from mine. If it is truly "mint", basically taken out of the box and never used, $800 is not unreasonable.

I share the same opinion as you on this topic. If a truly " mint ' out of the box '94, from the pre 64 era , hit the rack in any of the gunshops I have been into in the past while it would be gone almost as fast as it was put up for sale.

The term MINT means exactly that. A 60-year-old gun to hold mint status would never see the light of day and require proper storage 24/7. If he has one of these he can name his price. If not it is a post war 94 with a common cal in which there was millions made . The term rare, limited, one of a kind, special order etc is always up for interpatation, depending if you are buying or selling. It is 500/650 $ gun

Pay him $300 buck and keep it for yourself. I have one, I consider mine to be priceless. Got it here off EE 10 years ago $250. Dated it to 1939 I think it was. She's been around the block, the receiver is so worn from being carried, its shiny like stainless steal. Not really banged up but well used.

Depending on whether "mint" is really mint... it is worth $700-$800... I bought a truly mint 1959 M94 .30/30 this summer for $600.

I'm with you. I don't know why guys get all gooey over 94 carbines. Rifle, yes. Carbine...not so much. And I don't think I could get too warmed up about the x54R in the 95. Something about mating the Commies and 'Merica that I can't quite square.
