Has anyone tried the euclidean machine works inc. Mosin sight? euclideanmachine.com/mosinsight.html

The machining quality looking absolutely fantastic and the adjustment method for windage and elevation looks clever to say the least. Made in Canada is also a plus.

I hunt with a 91/30 in stock configuration and at this point I'm switching between two front sight posts (one filled for 203gr SP and one filled for 150gr FMJ) and the constant changing of sights is wearing out the dovetail (already has to be shimmed). This looks like a great non-permanent solution to my problem. My concern is that I've used the Smith Sight in the past and had issues with the set screw backing out.

Anyone used these sights? Any feedback?

No i haven't but it does look promising. As for the set screw backing out that is what locktite is for. For switching between different loads that have different POI, I would set the sight for the load that shoots the highest and use the rear sight to adjust for the difference. Example: I have an M44, normal surplus ball is bang on at 100. If i use heavy ball (wolf 200 gr) I have to set the rear sight to 400 meters to accommodate for the drop.

Excellent recommendation!

Hello,

That thing is a blatant rip-off of my Classic Target sight. I talked to him and he admitted to studying my stuff during development.

The set screws no longer back out on mine, guys. I identified and fixed that problem a while back. Wish more folks would write in when they find problems, though!

Regards,

Josh

Your privilege.

I like Canada and her people. I do have problems with those who blatantly copy others' designs for profit, and can't say much good about those who knowingly patronize them. It's not a national pride issue but one of mutual respect. I don't care about nationality when it comes to ethics. I'd blast a US citizen just as readily for knocking off a product.

Glad to hear you fixed the set screw issue as I personally had that problem. You announced before that you would no longer be shipping to Canada?

It's not an exact copy as the entire sight body is milled and it comes with a very well thought out adjustment tool.

Hello,

I announced it, but only really followed through for a couple months. The USPS got their collective s**t together and improved tracking and prices (it only costs like 10 cents more to ship a sight to Canada now), so I've been honoring orders placed from Canada.

I didn't come here to advertise. I like to stop by now and again to see what's happening because, as I said, I like Canada and her people. Ya'll are really cool and our intertwined history is really interesting.

I saw this sight copy being praised here and it burned my ass. I felt I had to say something. It's my work, copied.

Guess maybe I'll look into advertising here again, see if I can afford it.

Regards,

Josh

As promised, my review of the Euclidean Machine front sight for the M91/30. Pictures to follow at some point...

The tool itself is mint. Well designed, solid and compact. Only thing I can complain about was the smell of machine oil which smells a lot like cat piss. A little brake clean and that was taken care of.

The sight itself went on like butter. The adjustments are easy to make and the set screw feels solid so far (pending range test) and I can't make the sight post slip with moderate force.

Overall I give it a 'highly recommended' purchase if you want to shoot accurately with a mosin in stock configuration.

Once I get it out to the range and start doing some dialing in with it, I will update how well the graduated tool works for adjustments.
