From Speer No. 10, circa 1979:
Has anyone else noticed that for a given bullet weight and for powders slower than 4895 that 8X57 and 30-06 loads are practically identical?
I'm just betting back into reloading for my 98k after a few years off from it. I can't find my old notes, but right now I'm playing with the following: 150gr Speer, 47.6gr of 4064. Your mileage may vary,
I'm a bit leery of such a light bullet in a 98K as I've observed that lighter bullets don't seem to group as well in my rifle. However, I did find a bunch of 150gr Speers pretty cheap, so figured I'd play around a bit and see how they work out.
I had other loads, mostly around 180gr and 200gr bullets and IMR 4064 (or Varget). If I do end up finding my old reloading notebook, I'll send those your way.
yup. loaded to the same pressure they are about the same thing.Has anyone else noticed that for a given bullet weight and for powders slower than 4895 that 8X57 and 30-06 loads are practically identical?
