European mount calgary

Hey all,

I just bagged my first white tail buck, and while it's not trophy (it's an 8 pointer, is say about 3-4 years old based in size) I want to remember the occasion by having the skull and antlers mounted European style. I was wondering if any one in the Calgary area could recommend a good taxidermist that could put it together for me. Also i was wondering if anyone could tell me what they have paid in the past to have this done?

I've had Chris from Bruin Taxidermy do a few European Mounts for me (he has a website if you Google it). It cost me about $300 for the skull, wood plaque, and an engraved plate. I've always been pleased with his work and turn-around time.

After my first Mule Deer hunt on draw in Alberta a 'few' years ago, my Daughter did a European mount for me, as a favour.



We did well on our Antelope hunt on draw this year and again, my Daughter this time, is making arrangements for a Euporean mount of mine.



Mine is the 'cute' one in the centre.

Don't over pay, it isn't difficult. Often an apprentice will take on euro mounts and do an excellent job.

We've got a beetle guy here who charges about 130 bucks for a deer skull, cleaned and bleached white. Skin out the head and take the jaw off and he will cut that price in half more or less. Plaques aren't much.

I know that if you take a skull to some (I want to say all, but who knows) taxidermists around here they will send it to him and mark it up when they charge you.
