Even a 2 point can have character.

Large framed 2 x 2 mule deer with a forked dropped tine and and extra cheater point. (This guy would have been legal during the 4 point season as legally he was a 5 x 2 .)

He was a big-bodied 3 1/2 year old deer and was ~250 pounds. (We had the tenderloins for dinner yesterday and he is tasty too. :) )

Good going!

I have the skull still of that two-point with the long long tines you put me onto the time I visited.

Looks like minimal meat damage even with a shoulder shot, if that's what it looks like. Can you add to the discussion about what caliber and bullet combo you were using. Nice going by the way.

He was on a deer trail about 100 feet above me and I didn't want him go anywhere other than straight down at the shot. (There is a very nasty little ravine about 20 feet from where he was walking.) Range was ~175 yards and the bullet was a Nosler 168 E-Tip launched out of my 300 WSM @ 3000 fps.

The entry was through the near leg blowing off the top of the heart and lower lungs and exiting out through the off leg. I do my own butchering and managed to save all but about 4 pounds of edible meat. (I did spend an extra hour or so cleaning "jelly" from between the muscle layers.)

Nice looking Hat Rack...
And the character too is cool.
So, are they fatter yet or is this normal amounts as shown on your specimen?
Rob

I've seen lots more back fat than that on mulie bucks. This one looks a bit on the average to lean side.

This guy is pretty normal for what my daughter calls a "bush-buck". The alfalfa fattened resident deer should have twice the amount of lard on them now.

For the record, I hate you.

You can always request a transfer back to the puddle. ;) There seems to be a merry-go-round happening at your old office with faces changing on a weekly basis.

If you liked the Non Typical 2 point you will love this one we took about 10 years ago.
