Even strait pull rifles can be banned if they look too assaulty (is this a word?)

Correct. My Raven Front and Rear ends have migrated yet again, from the Raven to the Crypto and now to the Maple Ridge Armoury "Renegade" straight-pull ejection and spring-assisted charging Receiver Set. Another $999 to keep the Raven parts kit legal for use.
This only makes some sense when you consider that I am sitting on a fair bit of 5.56mm ammo and this is my only legal firearm chambered in that cartridge....

They have already floated a sniper rifle ban. A sniper rifle being a powerful bolt action rifle with a scope for shooting at things a long way away. So that is pretty much everything outside of the semi-auto's.

Sadly, this is the reality. When guns are registered, the government owns them, not you. Registration ALWAYS leads to confiscation eventually. This is why I'm opposed to registries of any kind. Cars, houses, pets, property.
I think we can agree that their end goal is complete civilian disarmament.
To that effect, yes even single shots, let alone "assaulty" straight pull rifles are absolutely in their crosshairs...
Just like the M1 Carbine going Prohibited last time around while leaving the M1 Garand alone, this just gives the gun grabbers something to come back for in the future. In the meantime, they placate their political base & shore up support from them while accomplishing nothing wrt Public Safety OTHER THAN making the crime situation worse as the last 10 years of increasing crime rates has shown.

Most in the same boat. IMHO major mistakes from the orgs was not lobbying government for grandfathering. Now we will lose it all, would not be surprised if they add in handguns last minute as well...
