At fifty yards, a .30/30 with a 3x scope. Not too bad since it was a windy day.
These uglies have shot better on calm days.

I've had some pistol bullets that coated kinda ugly like this. Looking closely they were completely coated with clear but the pigment was blotchy.

Works just fine for my purposes. Also part of the reason for switching to Eastwood clear powder.

It's not accuracy I worry about when the PC is blotchy. It's the hour of scrubbing out lead that I worry about... With a GC I imagine you are fine though.

It's only the pigment that is blotchy. The clear part of the powder mixture seems to flow nicely with the heat, and cover the bullet evenly.
I've shot these bullets over 2400 f/s, measured on my Labradar, with no leading and no loss of accuracy over 40 rounds.

How hard do you cast them? Does it matter with the powder coating? Ugly can be good....

You can get away with a much softer alloy with pistols so I would imagine the same is true for rifle. Definitely impressive results, makes me eager to start loading PC cast bullets for my rifles.

Looks like the rcbs 30-180-fn
I love that bullet, mine dresses out at around 200 grains. Good to see those blotchy bullets can shoot. I tried some translucent blue coated ranch dog 170 gr on the wednesday they weren't quite as ugly but shot very well and no leading. Mine are air cooled ww then quenched after coating driven to around 2000 fps with h4895
