Put a couple of 8mm holes in this fella at 9:00pm the other night. Not much of a story though. Went for a drive and took the atv down a side road. I stopped to glass a slope with a lot of green on it. No bears on the hill but across the trail and through some brush I heard a small tree get knocked over....then another. Up come the binos, lo and behold it was a bear eating roots. Watched it for a bit before deciding to drop the hammer. Husqvarna 8mm with 196gn Norma Vulkan bullets made quick work of it.

My precise measurements tell me it is 5 of my size 12 Hanwag boots from nose to tail. My guess is 5.5 feet. Nice noggin and a scarred up face on him too.

I ground most and save a couple roasts to make some pulled bear. Now I have to decide if I want to head out and chase another or focus my time on fishing....if the ice ever leaves the lakes that is. Best of luck to everyone chasing bears out there!

I just got last years grizzly back as well so I'll have to post pics of the rug sometime.

Congrats on the Bear, nice to have those extra daylight hunting hours out there this time of year, cheers

Thanks for sharing the story! Love reading about others hunts, especially successful ones!

Enjoy the meat, he will be great eating.

Cheers
Jay

Put the tape on this one the other day and it went 5'2". An ok Yukon bear. Saw some on my drive the other day and still have a tag burning a hole in my pocket.

Well I took Looky's advice and got another bear, 8mm Husky and a Norma Vulkan to the boiler room/offside shoulder made quick work of the second one. Decent colour phase. A 5'2" black bear plus a 5'7" cinnamon bear equal one 10'9" bear right???
