So I have heard of some guys that break in a new rifle barrel by cleaning after every shot for the first 10 to 20 shots. The rationale is that it is supposed to make cleaning the barrel much easier and faster over the course of its life.

Ever heard of doing this for a brand new pistol? I know that it isn't necessary or common but it wouldn't be a big deal either.

The whole thing may not be possible as so many new pistols are factory test fired.

No, i haven't and have never heard of anyone else doing it either. I've heard it being done by die hard precision shooters but have heard form both sides that it either is the best thing since hopes 9 for the rifle or it doesn't do jack. I'd say just shoot yer gun and don't worry about it.

I once read about a study that the Military did once that said 10 times more damage is done to firearms by improper cleaning then is ever done to them by shooting them. So my idea is shoot it and only clean it (the Bore) when you have to.

Know I heard it all

"if I had a .5 MOA sniper yes I would break in the barrel" if your pistol can do .5 MOA at 100m then yes feel free to break it in ;)
