Ever find anything in your old milsurp?

In the buttstock of a PH#4 I found a candle and matches wrapped in saran wrap and in the buttstock of a non-sportered SMLE I found a bunch of nails and a cork-topped testtube wrapped in what looks like WW1 uniform material. I assume it was for a little pre or post-battle snort.
Not nearly as cool as some of the stuff you guys have found!

I bought a Egyptian FN 49 off a fellow a few months ago and inside the buttstock was the receipt for when he bought it, it was for $350. That is what I bought it for off of him, he never shot it and he bought it in the pre magazine capacity days.

I've got a pal who bought a WWII Jeep that had a Colt 1911 and a pack of 50 rds tucked into a spot under the dash on the passenger side. The gun was wrapped in an oiled rag, so it survived pretty well.

That trumps all the "...taken off a German Officer ..." stories that accompany all the P-08's, P-38's, Walther PP's/PPK's, Mauser HSc's, etc.

Pulled the buttplate off a Mosin once, just out of curiosity.

There were hairs under it, very near to the tip of the toe.

Sand. Lots of sand jammed in the stock behind the butt plate. I like to think it's from Normandy and not a careless previous owner dropping his hunting rifle on a beach.

I bought a 1944 Long Branch that had been set up for DCRA match shooting with a Parker Hale 5C site. It was purchased from the son of the Peterborough gunsmith who had used it in competition. Rolled up in the butt stock was the original paperwork releasing it from #25 COD (LFOD MTL). 10 Feb 48. It was released to Dominion of Canada Rifle Assoc 207 Queen St Ottawa. Shipped collect to a Peterborough address.. Instructions on release form were as follows " Rifle must have a 5 groove barrel and take plug guage up to .302 and is to be stamped with government sales mark"
Price was $35.00.
There was no HST in 1948!!
It still enjoys the occasional trip to the range.

I baught a turk mauser several years ago that had sand in the stock under the action and barrel channel.

My ross mk3 had an original brass pull through with a piece of cloth that looks like it was ripped from a very old flower dress. Who knows where it came from???

I found some wooden matches wrapped in plastic in the butt of an old SMLE .303

and while not a milsurp...I found 1 live 300Sav round in the butt of an old Model 99...

When I took apart the grips on my much abused Nagant revolver, I found a lot of caked dirt underneath.

In the barrel channel of a Japanese Special Naval Rifle, pencilled characters for "Nakamura".
On the inside of one grip from a P08, "July 10, 1943 Avola Sicily"

There is a photo of two Brit soldiers with an American paratroop over at miksurps in the Lee-Enfield at war thread. The caption for the photo states it was taken in Avola, Sicily, July 11, 1943. Kind of proves the timeline!
