I actually had mama and 2 cubs in my back yard (Kelowna) a few years back. They came in through the small creek which runs at the property. They were all sitting in the trees about 3 meters up. I went there with my chainsaw and scared them away with the noise, They all left after a few hours. Mama really didn't like it too much and made one attempt to get closer to me but she really didn't like the chainsaw.

That is so cute!
Before I shot my first bear it started to climb the tree I was in so I moved my boot against the stand and it scared the bear away. Then the bear came back so it became my bear.

I guess the lesson to take from that picture is; if you come across a pile of #### and beer laying on the ground in the bush, heads up, and get the hell out of there before he can get his sights on you.

I had one in my stand this year - I could see his claw marks up the tree. Then, when I was hunting, they'd walk right underneath to get to the bait. I was always edgy, wondering if they were going to climb up into the stand . . . kept the shotgun pretty handy just in case! :shotgun:

I had two cubs climb into my treestand while I was still in it. I had my 870 across my lap but I stayed perfectly still. They were calling to their mother who was at the bait 12 yards from the bottom of the tree, and she was a biiig sow. One of the cubs sniffed my ear and wasn't sure what I was. They both climbed back down the tree and left with their mother. It was almost a Code Brown moment, to say the least.
