In the past week I've had 3 "bloopers"

1) I've been trying to get a duck load together for one of 16 Gauges (Stevens 311) and I finally bit the bullet and bought some Bismuth...expensive stuff ($23/lb). So I load up the bottle on my MEC 600 Jr. and do some practice drops to see if it will accurately throw 1oz. I did 8 drops and none were 1oz. I figured, "Well, I've only got enough for a few boxes anyways, I'll just hand weigh'em". I tip the bottle back and you guessed it, the top popped off and 3 pounds of Bismuth went rolling all over my bench :puke::eek: I managed to pick up what I could, but that happened Monday and I'm still finding pellets :mad: When I finally got a load together, the crimps were brutal....still working on that

2) I've been reloading a lot of 12 Gauge AA hulls that I pre-primed and been reloading some steel for my 16 into Multi-Hulls (factory primed). So I got pull out some Federal hulls and some Nice Shot and have at it. I reload 25 1 1/8oz loads and think, "I'm set for duck season". I'm fondling them when I notice the primers look funny. Yup, I was so used to loading primed hulls that I'd forgotten to de-prime, re-size and then re-prime the Feds :rolleyes:

3) I think to myself, "I'm going to reload some normal trap loads for my 12. I've been doing those for years on the Load-All, this load is fool proof." Until I realized I'd converted my Load-All to 16 Gauge (and immediately regretted as all it does is crumple hulls). "No problem, I'll use my 600 Jr." So I pull out my bushing chart and try to figure out my load. I find I need bushing #25. I look at my bushing. I have #20, #29 and #35. Could I have loaded a load? I'm sure I could've, but I figured with my luck so this week, I'd just pass and shoot factory this weekend.

Anyone else ever have one of these weeks?

Er, well, uh, yes I've spilled shot and, ahem, loaded the odd dead primer but not 25.

Ever put shot in the powder hopper and vice versa? Why MEC has the positions reversed between their progressive and single-stage loaders is one of life's little mysteries.

Cory, have you checked your MEC bushing to see what it's throwing for lead? Bismuth is a little lighter but even with lead I've found MEC shot bushings just like their powder bushings to throw a touch lighter than advertised. I believe the shot bushings are bored for pure lead and higher antimony shot can mean a lighter shot charge. I took the Dremel tool and hogged out a 28 gauge bushing so it threw a genuine 3/4 ounce because when I'm shooting 28 gauge I need every pellet I can get.

I've never actually loaded lead with either of my MEC's :redface: I can't justify the cost of lead shot when I can buy a case of 12 Gauge trap loads for $80 and 16 Gauge Trap loads for $99 (shipped). I understand reloads would more than likely be "better", but I'm just doing backyard trap with my family, so I'm not too concerned.

Steel on the other hand, I've reloaded lots with on both. But of course I'm not using either of the bottles for that.

lol good joke.

Reminds me of this kid back in highschool (this is kinda mean but....). This guy thought it was funny and always drank out of other peoples drinks at partys. Learned his lesson good one night tho. Started spitting my chew in an empty beer bottle. Yup halfway threw the night buddy takes a swig. And instantly spits old gross chew slime out. Haha but just to make sure he learns the lesson my buddy points to the bottle people were butting there ciggerates out in for him to wash out his mouth.
Everyone but 1 had a good laugh haha :)

^^ Ugh I had a girlfriend like that a couple months ago back. She would drink everything in sight, no matter who it belonged to, and then proceed to cook everything in the fridge.

One night she got so drunk she made me put up a tent in the living room so she didn't have to worry about getting puke on the carpet if she couldn't make it to the bathroom.

I guess that's what happens when you meet a girl who wanted to follow a bachelor's party home from the club haha.
 
Around a month ago I loaded 243 Win 70SMK with 46gr of Varget!
The muzzle velocity was 300fps more than it should and the Federal Match primers vaporized...
I only shot 2 of these "test loads" and had to pull 48 bullets.
Thank God, nobody got hurt and they rifle still shoots extremely well.
The same week a loaded 270WSM 60+ gr of Varget beind a 110V-Max and only shot the rifle once!!!
The rifle took a beating but still shoots well and I had to pull 49 bullets.

Finally, I realized that my problems were caused by a faulty electronic scale.
Both rifles were Remington 700 and they are almost industructible.

Well hell son you only dropped 3 pounds, try 25 pounds of #8 shot. 20 years later that stuff still shows up. As we like to say here in Sask. next year will be better.;)
