Ever heard of cut shells?

Right. I forgot there's people who do things and know from experience, and then there's the opinions of those who don't even do the basic research outside of this site for what happens in this cut-shell situation.

I researched this, found it's safe with any modern gun , and have first hand experience shooting about 80 of these for fun through a mod. choke.

I guess I also cast my own slugs and shoot those too.

that's where I'm coming from.

Do you any of you guys have any research or examples of cut-shell accidents ? I could not find anything, just opinions, kinda like some of the info in this thread.

Well, it might be a repost, but member 9x19p is the first one IMHO to point
to the obvious nobody said it yet.
Yes, it pushes a "projectile" fatter
than what the forcing cone was calculated/designed for.
It is the same like (or worse than) firing a 3.5" in a 2.75" chamber,
like someone pointed out before.

I have not seen accidents,
but I have seen about half a dozen ringed (bulged) barrels
about where the forcing cone is,
because the shooters used that crap and they admitted to it.
To me, that is a clear sign of potential trouble,
even if it doesn't ring the barrel every time.

alright, that's better, a first hand account of damage. It's something for me to think about.

I wonder if those guys used screw in chokes, I did catch some people having issues with shooting the choke right out the end of the gun.

The H&R choke is built into the barrel, and it's only a mod choke. I suspect I personally would be OK, but if I had a screw in full choke, I would not go there with the cut-shells
