For those of you that are under the age of 30....you might not know what this is.

As a sidenote : Im looking for any ideas about where I might procure some ammo and the reloading kit for it.

PM me if you have something you'd like to part with and any and all suggestions are welcome.

But I have started this thread to see who remembers the good old 80's and 90's

MODEL 85 Tactical Dye Marking Pistol **Paintball Gun**

Made by Para Ordinance in the early 1980's it operates from an open bolt and fires paintballs at rate comparable to the Mac 10 that it was modeled after.

for those of you that do remember.....wow what a good time! Ted SZABO was a genius. ;)

Well that video shows the actual Mac 10 and 11 series "firearm".....

just to be clear...the photo I have put above it is for the TACTICAL DYE MARKING PISTOL ie a paintball gun

They do however fire at exactly the same rate of fire.....which is approximately 1200 rpm. For the mathematical among us....thats 20 a second!

they were banned from paintball fields because of their tendency to cut right into peoples skin and shatter safety goggles.

but were a riot to shoot back in the day.

yup got that. just showing that the fire rate is insane

It most certainly is!!!! LOL

I remember the ammo costing $15 dollars for a box of 50 back in the mid 90's....and then para ordinance had the machine that makes the ammo go into a state of disrepair so they discontinued the line.

The ammo for it turns up on ebay every once in a while...but Im looking to find some if anyone has it out there. I want the reloading kit too.

bought it back in the day for $80 but returned it when i found the results to be hit and miss with ignition.

Isn't that ammo similar to the type of "markers" used for law enforcement training? I've never actually seen any but it looks like something a retired cop was telling me about. 20 balls per second is common for modern (.68 cal) but that ammo (.375) looks nasty! What's the FPS?

funny, the fields we played on, we LOVED guys who showed up with those....BRRP...he's empty NAIL HIM!!!! buwahahahahahahahahah.....same with the tipmann SMGs

Im pretty sure that it clocked out around 450.

and the dye marking pellets were .375 and as such were very prone to drying out or freezing into rock hard balls in the colder weather. OUCH**

when it was working it was fantastic.....Im going to track down the shell casings and a reloading kit and get her running again if I can.

:)

The vid shows a .380 Mac 11 converted to 9mm. The bolt has been shortned thus improving the rate of fire to approx. 3600rpm as I see the 32 round clip empty in about half a sec...
