Looking for info regarding selling prohib handguns to the States. Prices are a lot higher there for some guns I may sell. Is it a big deal? Paperwork, export fees, shipping hassles?? Any info would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

James

Paperwork from ATF takes forever. A friend sold an old Winchester into the U.S. Took 6 months. If it has ever been a military firearm, it caannot be imported into the U.S. I once had a sale rejected for that reason on an old 32 S&W revolver. I found it wasn't worth the effort.

Another problem to consider if how are you going to send the package once all the paperwork is finally completed? Last I heard none of the major couriers- UPS, Fed Ex, Purolator, etc. have permits in place to transport the guns into the USA. As far as I know sending handguns in the mail by using Canada Post/ USPS is forbidden. Last I heard Air Canada Cargo was licenced to transport firearms into the USA but I was told that they're charging an outrageous amount to deliver restricted and prohibited firearms. If anyone can relate their experiences I'm all ears as I'd love to send a few prohibs south of the border.

I'd recommend finding a potential buyer and then just follow the paperwork trail, if it works he can send the money, if not you are just out time. If you can't get more than 1000 more for the gun down south I don't believe it will be worth the hassle. I had a sale for a restricted (worth several K) and we abandoned the process due simply to addional costs. PM inbound
