I've seen many newbies ask so I thought I'd offer.

If you live in the Vancouver area I am in Cloverdale, BC ( Surrey for those of us in denial ) and while I will be humble and say I'm no professional if you ever wanted to assemble your own AR15 I am more than happy to help those in the area. I have the tools required to do the job and all you'd need to bring is your piles of parts and I will help you. I have built several AR's and owned even more.

But I warn you, once you start you will be addicted.

Couple of my recent builds from piles of parts.

Do you happen to have an a2 buttstock spacer for between the but stock and buffer tube? Whoever assembled my AR neglected to install that part.

Too bad at the end of the day still stuck with a range only toy. So many options to build, so little option to use.

If we're successful in getting rid of the firearms act, the AR is going to get hugely popular and there will probably be a few XCRs and Tavors in the EE!

Don't mean to hijack your thread but...
I wonder how popular the idea of a Build a AR store would
be. People come in and you have all the parts they could possibly want to try, (different types of rails, grips, uppers etc.) And they, with your assistance build an AR. Might get more people into ARs and possibly make a bit of cash.

I do not but if you have a really hard time finding one I believe I have the 6061 T6 aluminum sitting here and could machine you one up on my lathe and mill.

Custom, lets just go shooting man...
I just bought a nice Christensen 14.5 inches it needs to be shot!

Hmmmmmmm that is an offer I don't usually turn down. I have a newly assembled AR I need to test fire and I'm assembling a 6.8 SPC one here pretty quick. Let me know.

Beats a toy that just sits in your house. It could always be worse.

Its a good idea but there is only currently 50,000 AR15's in Canada so says a reliable source so market is a little limited. I'm just trying to help those out who may not necessarily have the tools or know how. It's not overly complicated but for some they may be a little hesitant if they have never done it before.

I'm sure that there are even fewer than 50,000 owners of some other firearm types. The fact that our national police force doesn't like them is more than sufficient reason to own one.
As for a 'build', how does it work out cost wise compared to an off-the-shelf unit? Perusing the Brownell's catalogue gets scary real quick cost wise and there is always the issue of "we can't ship that to KANADA".

You could easily 'red flag' yourself in the bargain, setting yourself up for an early morning, unannounced entry ......

Awww... Mildcutom2 you are such a softie, pretty soon you will have all kind of crazies hanging out at your place, from the rumours I heard about the last Tuesday night get together, you better start laying down plastic sheets ;)

Damnit, I could have made it last tuesday too. Powerwagon usually bothers and reminds me to go, but he must have given up on me this time!

This is a little off topic... but seeing as you guys are in the lower mainland, where do you guys shoot your restricted rifles?

I was thinking of joining the mission gun club...

It can be legally done easily.

Any AR15 guy is good in my books. The individual in question at the get together is anti restricted and hates AR's.

Only 50K?! We need to up those numbers. :)

I've bought 3 this month alone. I'm working on it.

Anywhere but Ridgedale because its run by a bunch of stupid Fudds that don't know firearms laws......... Long story.

Poco is pretty busy but ok.

I shoot at POCO, but I usually go really early on Friday mornings around 8:30am and I leave before the swarms of tourists come by so around 11:00 - 11:30am

I'll also go with the wife once or twice a month on saturday or sunday mornings
