So I finally took the plunge and bought an SKS. Picked up one from WestRifle. I got the mean looking black one with the Tapco stock and ATI adjustable butt. I made it out to the range today to try it out. Yesterday, I disassembled it and had a look at things. The bore looks great with visible rifling, the firing pin was freely moving and the bolt looked very nice. I cleaned most of the excess (what looked and smelled like) motor oil off of everything not directly involved in the bang. The only disappointing part was seeing the rails in a bag. Well...now I have to disassemble the stock, drop the trigger group......etc., etc. Hint to person who puts these stocks on these rifles....INSTALL THE RAILS BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE ACTION INTO THE STOCK!! Duh!
Oh well... time to shoot!! I shot at some paper at 100m and also the gongs. Banged off 120 rounds. Here's the results:
And the last one is a picture of the rifle.
Like I said above, everyone should have one of these! So much fun! So cheap to feed! And, it looks like I got a really good one! I'm going to try it at 200m. The only thing that sucks, is the 5 round legal limit. Solution...have lots of clips loaded and ready.
