I just came across this product online and it sounds interesting. The company also makes a number of related products for sports protection. Google "Evoshield recoil pad" and you'll get a number of hits.
It's similar in principle to the PAST recoil shield in that it distributes recoil over a larger area, but in this case the material is sealed in an airtight bag when you get it as it cures (hardens) on exposure to air. They sell a t-shirt to go with it, although I suppose you could have a suitable pouch stitched into any tight-fitting undershirt; some vendors sell replacement pads. You open the sealed pouch, slip it into the pouch in the shirt, then mount your rifle/shotgun for about 10 mins until it begins to set up. You end up with a recoil pad custom-moulded to your shoulder.
There are encouraging reviews on the US Cabela's website as well as one by Randy Wakefield on chuchkawks.com (FWIW). Not cheap, but it might be useful for people who do a lot of shooting with big bores or 12ga.
