What do all you smiths use for removing heavy copper fouling from barrels? I have a few oldies in need of restoration, and a few newer ones in need of some TLC. I can't seem to find anything other than Hoppes locally and that stuff won't clean anything.

Wipe Out and CR10 work extremely well for copper fouling removal.
Wipe Out is easy on the bore and can be left in overnight if needed. CR10 is aggressive and needs to be neutralized after use and no more than a couple of hours of exposure in the barrel.

Not a gunsmith by any means but i can say that i bought a foaming cleaner made by thompson centre that with 2 applications brought a old 303 enfield from looking like a smooth bore to a sharply rifled barrel again.
To bad the rifle was shot out, made a better jack handle than a rifle, couldn't hit a pie plate at 50 yards consecutivly

Since I have to order this stuff and get it shipped, and I can not find either in Canada. What do you fellas think of KG 12?

Foaming Wipe-out works for me. Spray it on... go watch tv... have a coffee... wipe it out an hour or so later and repeat as needed. I sometimes leave it overnight. Says it's safe to do so.

I don't know anything about the KG-12, but i just went out to the garage and grabbed the stuff from thompson center, it is available in canada as i bought it at the local gunshop.
It is called T-17 foaming bore cleaner, removes black powder, copper fouling, brass fouling and plastic residue from sabot slugs.

The stuff really does work well.

I'm not a gunsmith either but I've been really happy with KG12. Wipe-Out works well also, but I think the KG12 is a little more aggressive. The nice part is that neither of them will stink up your shop/house. If you do opt for Wipe-Out make sure to get the Accelerator as well.

I like that First Choice bore cleaner bore cleaner. it is water based and envoirment friendly. it takes copper out real well. it does not sting my fingers. it is made in canada.
for more info google first choice bore cleaner

Several good products have been listed in the other replies, and most will do the job of cleaning carbon and copper.
The petroleum/ammonia based cleaners like Hoppe's, Shooters Choice, Butche's, G96, work well, for a quicker cleaning CR-10 and Sweet's 7.62 will fill that need.
For the new generation of cleaners which are water based, Wipe Out (foam or liquid) Aqua Clean, Bore Tech Eliminator or 1st Choice Bore Cleaner, they will perform carbon and copper removal equally as well. They have much less of an odor to them, which makes cleaning indoors less of an issue for the rest of the family.
When leaving solvents in the bore, remember they are a liquid even the foaming products return to a liquid fairly quickly, this means that the product has a tendency to migrate to the lowest point. This will effect the degree of bore solvent concentration throughout the bore, and could have the effect of more or less cleaning in parts of the barrel (top vs. bottom).
I have seen several incidences of allowing the foaming cleaners to expand into the receiver, getting into the trigger and the bolt stops on Remingtons. This did not have good results for there function.

I don't recall all the kg numbers but they work great. I use the carbon and copper ones. I'm almost out though. Anyone know where to get more?

If the copper is really built up I first scrub it with JB Bore Cleaning Paste on a good fitting brush... it will remove the majority of copper much faster than solutions... then I finish with either Sweets 7.62 or Wipe Out.
