Hey everyone, I have a line on used K2 pack with some extra goodies for $700. I have used a Gunslinger and only day trips. I have a 5ish day elk backpack hunt coming up in the fall. My question to those with some experience with packs is it still worth getting a EXO K2 over something new like the new Metcalf or Team Elk pack.

I love my Exo k2, it's only a 3500 or so (55ltr) an I struggled on a 10 day , but for a week or so it fits all I need an it super comfy, without it I could t do what I do (backpack hunt)

Heard the K2 is better than the K3 in some areas an hear there is now a K4 model fixing the K3 issues?!?

Very expensive thougg

I have a k3 and I have to say I’m not sure what would be the issues lol, the k4 looks like a great pack with great features, both are really expensive and I think if you have a lead on a k2 in good condition that fit you well, go for it, k3-k4 might have some updates and new features but in reality it is more marketing so they can keep selling packs imo!

I know mine(k3) I found the lumbar pad to be way too soft and contacted them and they sent me no charge a firmer one that made it way more comfortable!

Anyway, I don’t think you ca go wrong with any of them!

I picked up one of the new Metcalf 75s from MR, its a definite Cadillac and feels bombproof. They really improved the load shelf too which I like

Had both a K2 and a Team Elk at the same time as I searched for ‘the one’. Still have the K2. Take one guy’s opinion for what it’s worth.

I found the Team Elk to be well made, but I didn’t like the way the bag moved around on the frame when loaded. Used webbing tie downs to secure it all up, but felt like a fix on something that shouldn’t need fixing.

Been using the K2 for several years now and feel no need to replace it with a K3 or K4 as there’s nothing to whine about. For me at least.

Again, just one guy’s take.
